Kelly's Story
Life
I left California in 1980, travel the states looking for a new home. Ran out of money in Texas! I got bored...Went to work on a cruise ship just so I could scuba dive. Feel in love with a British man..married. We lived in Miami. I became a widow 3 years later at age 28. While in Florida...I worked with exotic animals of all kinds. Did a little research on South American Birds. Went to school to become a LVN. I worked with HIV/AIDS patients. Up-rooted again to Chicago. TOOOO cold. I lasted 2 months! Moved to Dallas to be close to my dad and mom. Continued my work with HIV/AIDS patients. Worked on 2 drug studies. After the Oklahoma bombing...I felt a bigger calling. I wanted to become a fire fighter. So...I enrolled in the fire academy. Did great. Went on to get my EMT certification. Got a job at DFW Airport as a fire fighter. You have to be duel-certified as both fire and police. So...they put me in the police ...Expand for more
academy. Did great! The first time I drove a police car by myself, I called my father and said, " I can't believe I'm in the front seat this time!" I've been in the back seat a few times in my younger days. They then put in Aircraft Fire Fighting/Rescue, Haz-Mat & Rope Rescue. Then 9/11 hit. I worked so many hours. I'd work full time in fire. Get off shift and go straight to the police side. We were very busy at the airport. I earned a live saving award while there. I ended up tearing my knee up. Six surgeries to put it back together. It was a career ending injury.
So...I pulled up my boot straps and found a new career. I became a Hair Stylist.
Never remarried...I have interviewed my share of applicants for the job! No kids....I did donate my eggs to an infertile couple twice and was a foster mother to 6 year old.
Now you know my life story.... I turned out okay. Smart, educated, kept my figure and drug free!
