Kelly's Story
After high school, I went to Davenport University and graduated in 1985. I worked at Hubbard Law Firm for 13 years before moving to the Attorney General's office in 1998. I am the Division Head Secretary in the Corrections Division.
I am married to Jim Schumaker, also a SJHS graduate, and we have 3 children: Jason, 27; Jessica, 25; and Jenna, 14. Jason and Jessica are my step-children, but I have raised them since they were 5 and 3 respectively. from LCC and lives in DeWitt. She currently works at an assisted living facility while waiting to begin the x-ray tech program. Jenna is in the 8th grade and is very active in sports, along with being a straight-A student. She's seriously considering following in her brother's footsteps and becoming an engineer.
Jim farms full-time, so we stay busy managing the farm and keeping up with the kids...especially Jenna's active schedule.
I have been on the Class of '83 reunion committee for the past 6 years or so, which has been a great time. I have enjoyed catching up with classmates.
