Kelly's Story

Anyone who knows/remembers me knows I am a talker. I am anything but shy and I have a HUGE laugh. I have always suffered from "foot in mouth" disease and sadly that hasn't improved much with age. I am still a clutz, gullible, a jeans & sweatshirt kinda gal, and the first to laugh at myself. I remain fiercely loyal and always sociable. Lee-Anne Pastushak (Partchenko) is the kindest, most forgiving soul I have ever known and I am blessed to call her my best friend after over 30 years. I became single in '97 and though I may have failed in marriage, I have two beautiful kids as a result. My daughter is now 16 and a junior in high school. My son is 13 and in the 8th grade. She is as feminine as they come. I have NO idea where that came from! Since moving to KY she has become a true southern country girl at heart. (Jim Clow would love to know she only dates rednecks ~LOL~) My son thinks he is a real ladies man and is a complete football fanatic. This he gets from me; the football thing! He is a natural athlete; loving soccer, playing football since 2001, skateboarding (hair to fit), cross-country running, swimming and bike riding. They both have wicked and different senses of humor. They crack me up! I consider myself very fortunate because they actually dig me! I remain single. I have made some pretty poor man choices in my adult life and I figured I would take some time to slow down, re-evaluate and get to know myself. After bartending/...Expand for more
waitressing for many years, I became sober (just over a year ago), so I am looking into a career change at the moment. Health issues have kept me home for over a year, but now that I'm doing well I have actually applied to go to college. This should prove interesting, my daughter and I could be in college at the same time! Though she won't be going to college, she will be attending university for pediatric nursing. The move to small town, KY was a HUGE culture shock for us. We walked down the street and people stopped to talk or waved as they drove past. I remember warning the kids about the many weirdos who appeared to live here. Needless to say, that isn't actually the case. People here like to know their neighbors. They knew instantly that we weren't from here, both by our look and attitude. We seem to fit in now. Well, the kids do anyways. I am a favorite topic of gossip because I am single and from Canada. OMG! ~LOL~ I cannot stress how small town this place really is. Life is quiet, but looking up. With a difficult time behind me, I am more optimistic about the future than ever. I hope some old friends take the time to write. I am really looking forward to reconnecting. I have a page on MySpace (under kellysikking), thanks to my kids. That is one place to get in touch with me. It seems I am unable to view my guestbook because I am a free member here, so please email a "hello" instead. Please, don't be strangers! Take care, K
