Kelly's Story
Life
Born in Mobile and grew up in the Tillman's Corner area. First, I lived in Bay Minette until I was 1 or 2, then moved to the Hollinger's Island area, then moved to the Tillman's Corner area and lived there for 12 years. Moved back to Bay Minette for about 6 months in '86, but then moved back to the Tillman's Corner area. I have lived in 3 different states, which are AL, TN, and FL. Lived in Columbia, TN between '93 and '96, Birmingham, AL '96-'98, Mobile '98-'99, Pensacola, FL '00-03, Theodore '03-'06, Georgetown/Wilmer '06-'08, Tillman's Corner '09 and now West Mobile. I have an awesome son, Mark, who is 13 now.
School
Attended Greystone Christian School K-4th, IMS 5th-8th, and Theodore High 9th-12th(with a brief interlude during 10th grade at Baldwin Co. High). I would say that high school was a great time in life and I miss all of the friends that I made in school. It's sad that we lose touch with friends that we spend so much time with, but, hey, that's life! Mrs. Havard was my favorite teacher in school. She was a great teacher and I valued her opinion greatly. If I could do it all over again, I would, not now, but go back in time and live it over again. However, this time I would enjoy it more and not try to rush time along to get out of high school. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, as they say. The happiest times in school were when the band would go on trips to foot...Expand for more
ball games, marching competitions, or our annual band trips. A few highlights were: the Deep South Jam(freshman year), band trips to Six Flags(sophomore and senior years), getting superior ratings at the Old South Open in Milton, FL(freshman and senior years), winter "surf" dance at Knights of Columbus hall(can't remember what year), Friday night football games, Deep South Marching festivals. That about sums it up!
College
Not much to say about college because I never finished. Lack of money, you know. I did enjoy a few fraternity parties and parties with old high school buddies. Grades were not so good! I am taking classes online with Columbia Southern to get my degree.
Workplace
Pretty much telecommunications for most of my career. The most fun time was back in the day at Camelot Music. We had some great times after work at the Florabama in Orange Beach! BellSouth was hell on earth because I worked from 5pm-1am(when they were open 24 hours). Working for DigiPH PCS/Powertel/VoiceStream/T-Mobile in Mobile and Pensacola was a lot of fun for me! Worked for at&t for about 7 1/2 years.
Military
Served in the Alabama Army National Guard from '88 to '93. Joined to get money for school, but it didn't work out that way. Went to boot camp at Ft. Jacskon, SC and to AIT in San Antonio at Ft. Sam Houston. Served in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War for the majority of '91 in Dhahran.
