Kelly's Story
Life
My life isn't anything how I thought it would turn out.
I moved to California in the end of 77 (Jr.) and actually graduated a year early since I had so many credits.
In what would have been my senior year I went to cosmetology school. After graduation I worked as hairdresser while I went thru 4 years of college. I graduated with a BSN (Bachelors in Nursing) and went
directly to acute care nursing. After 7 years I tried my hand at travel nursing and loved every minute of it.
I have traveled extensively in the US, Europe and the
Caribbean. I was 99% sure that I wouldn't marry as I was very self supportive and didn't want to be "tied down."
In 1996 I met the man that I had waited all those years for. We married in 99 in a most beautiful wedding in Seattle. We honeymooned in the Caribbean
came back to a beautiful new home and settled in to life. My husband is in Upper management with ATT and I was working for a local surgeon as a scrub nurse.
Once again, life took a turn that we hadn't expected.
I found out I was pregnant at 39 and also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Neither of those were planned mind you. We had a beautiful baby girl who is now 6.
Yes, I get so tired of people asking about "Grandma."
3 years later we were blessed with a baby boy who just turned 4. For someone who didn't want kids or a husband, I couldn't be h...Expand for more
appier.I have truly been blessed these last 10 years, actually my whole life.
My MS has landed me my own suite at the local hospital in our town of 6,000 people. I spend more time in it than out. I haven't worked (as in, nursing) for 5 years. I am a so called "stay at home" mom who is never at home. I am so happy being able to take care of my kids and being able to be there for them when ever they need me.
In ALL my spare time I keep busy with a Girl Scout Group, soccer mom, dance, and homework, housework,
and cooking consultant for my family. We love to travel with and without our kids. We are fortunate enough to have a timeshare that we can use anywhere in the world and we use it. Our kids are so fortunate to have
the opportunity. I on the other hand am just having
nervous breakdowns anytime we head to the car or the airport.
So as you can see, life is not at all what I hoped for but am loving every minute of it. If it wasn't for the MS , it would be perfect. We feel fortunate to give our children the things we never had and the opportunities
not given to us. As parents, isn't that what we all hope for?
I've yet to make a reunion but hope to make it to our 40 next year. I don't see much about it on the board so I wonder if anything is planned.
I am eager to hear how our class has turned out.
I wish every one well.
