Kelly's Story

Life I am 56 and feeling much better. Lots of exercise, walks with the other old dog, some swimming and a conscious effort to change bring the ole body to a better shape... Been back in Colorado for 8 years, doing what I do best, as a pipe fitter. At ACA Denver Boiler, I manage installations, do estimates and meet with customers as the Service Manager. This is the easiest occupation I have had in years after playing the, 'Management scene' in manufacturing for numerous years, as: A Plant manager for a small wood manufacturer in Arkansas. Then as the Exec VP & Plant Engineer for Stone County Ironworks, in Arkansas. Some of you-all may have these hand forged items in your home. Yes, I can do some blacksmithing, though I've never been talented at it, like our Smiths. All of this happened in the Folk Music Capital of the world, Mountain View, Arkansas. There they also hold the National Out-House races every October at the Fall Festival, called the, "Bean Festival and Outhouse Races." During the races they have the local auxiliaries compete in a bean cooking contest! Seems odd perhaps, but it is real fun as it feeds the thousands of folks that show up for the races. The beans are flavored with opossum, coon, rattlesnake, snappin'turtle, and any other "road-kill" type of creatures that may be a-sunnin- its'sef in the middle of the road. Yes I have eaten road-kill. Well it was Dear meat. Our friends with an ambulance service in a neighboring town, have great opportunities to get road kill. NO, no, no, not people. They are close to the various authorities and when there is a Dear down that is good for meat, they call them... From there My family and I moved to Oklahoma where I was the Director of Engineering for Winslow Associates, a furniture manufacturer, making furniture for Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Ralph Loren Polo, you know! When you go shopping and all the cabinets and display units for the clothing is the type of furniture we made. You probably didn't know that furniture in the Mall Stores was supplied by the Clothier... Following that I returned to Colorado to return to my "first/best destiny," Pipe-fitting". It is an old family business. I was raised in it by my father and my brother. It has served us well. You might ask,"Who has put up with you all these years?" Cheryl (Thomas) and I married on 13 June 1970. Cheryl and I have 6 daughters, 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. No we don't look the part, not entirely. Our oldest is 36 and our youngest is 15. We've enjoyed, and still enjoy participating in our daughters' activities: Basketball, Cheerleading, Clogging, Ballet, Ballet, Scottish Highland Dance, Baking, Piano, etc., through the years. A favorite activity of mine, while in Arkansas, was being involved in coaching little league sports. My favorite was Pee Wee Basketball for girls through the Optimists Club. Gee why girls? Six daughters! After not winning even one game the first season, we, the teams, went to always winning either the tournament or the season each year, and at times both, for the following 12 years. It was quite a rewarding Hobby, though my methods were a little contrary to the 'gotta win' norm. We, my Teams, thought it was fun to win, and not a have to! Of course ice cream cones after the game is a great incentive for 4th, 5th and 6th graders. As a Family, we have done the typical country dancing, square dancing, clogging and whatever. I knew Grandpa Jones, from Hee Haw, and his family. They lived in Mtn. View, Arkansas when we were there. We met Jimmy Driftwood who wrote songs that Johnny Horton sang (The Battle of New Orleans), & Epps Mabry, who had wood carvings in the Smithsonian, also several others that are not exactly famous by popular standards, but they are known in s...Expand for more
ome circles. Our youngest daughter, Dantzel is very involved, and involving us too, in Scottish Highland Dancing. As a family we go weeekly to Sacred Harp Singing. It is the 4 note "Shape Note" singing. The type they used crossing the plains, a long time ago. It is an American tradition a lot of Americans don't know about. I find these activities are fun and force me to stop working long enough to relax, and travel a little bit with the Family, to the near-by Highland Games, where the competition often takes place, and hopefully this year to Vardaman Mississippi for the Annual Shape Note Singing on the 4th of July at Mount Herman Primative Baptist Church. My significant other, Cheri does stained glass, Art being one of her loves in life. We both enjoy working on our Family History as well. Just to leave you with a note, since you probably don't remember me, as I was quiet, shy, and small when at school. I hope you found a giggle from this bio, your supposed to laugh! As they say in the Ozarks, If'n we don' see ya in the future, we'll be a see'n ya in the pasture! updated 041708 Well it is April 13th again and four years have passed since I last wrote . It is 2012 and upon reviewing the informaitn I wrote before I was fascinated. I first wrote this in 2008, as though everyone knew I had a head injury. My short term memory was poor at the tiem and now is lacking at times, though inmproved. I relate teh experience as going from 28 to 82 in split second. Life has hard times within it, we each experience those. Well, just to update where we are and what I am up to, just in case someone is bored to death or at our age, near life. I fell on my head fro a height exceeding 12 feet I estimate. I had my first broken bonemy head from back into my nasal cavity, on May 17th 2005. I havecalled it a near life experience, just for a little comedy. It really did not hurt, well not for for a few days by my recollection. Elements to subversively who a half wit half brain wierd idot describe, I am nobody from nowhere. Like everyone, life activities have impacted the lives of those about us and we can only hope and wish it was actually in a good way, or so, I would desire in my heart. Currently I work for ACA Denver Boiler still and lead in sales for the company, Not much as it is small and in this economy sales are few for HVAC. As I manage the projects I bid and get, I find pleasure in Helping set the equipment and design the installations. They won't let me get on trucks to lift off equipment anymore as they don't want to pick me up off the pavement, so they say. I also work for Emily Griffith as an Instructor for the Pipefitters Local 208 Apprenticeship classes teaching at nights a couple times a week. I get to do a couple of Journeyman upgrade classes each year also. and when I don't do that, I work with the MNC HOA as secretary on the Board of Governors. I was recently re-elcted to the position, to my surprise as I do not fit into the typical social networks. If you recall who I was you know I never have fit in exactly. I enjoy doing what I believe is right and supportign the residents of the community in that as well. Lastly I am mostly a Grandfather. Our oldest grandchildren are 19 & 18. Our youngest is Penelopy Rose Kilman a whole month old. Holding a young baby, so tender and vulnerable to the world about them, is a feeling one expereinces only a few times in their life. Life is so precious. Politically as a conservative by nature and a constitutional Liveral I do my best to support our country. I have little or no influence, but I desire to keep America free and governed by the Constituion not by self serving politicians! I would hope you will do the same. Do Right and influence those about you as you can, to choose the right. 041312

The perfect sphere,
In a perfect orbit,
