Kelly's Story
Update 5-1-11: A lot has happened since I updated this last. I am 5 classes away from my BBA in HR Management at Sam Houston State. My husband, Brett, was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma on January 7, 2010, one day after his 50th birthday. They gave him an 11% chance of living 6 months to a year. HA! They didn't know Brett. Sixteen months, back surgery, radiation and 27 rounds of chemo later, he had his first clean scans a month ago. God is GOOD!!! Two more rounds and if he gets another set of clean scans he might finally get a break from chemo for a bit. My dad is also battling cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer, stage 4. His prognosis is not so good. Chemo never worked so we're waiting to see if he decides to try more or live out the rest of his days without the pain chemo brings. Even with all the bad, we still thank God for our blessings, our friends, our family, our church family.
Our little cat crowd increased to 5. We no longer have Corvettes. We now have 2 Corvairs, 1966 and 1968, a 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon and a 1979 Nova. We do love the old cars.
I pray that our friends are well.
Life
Currently living in Houston, though I've been all over in the last 23 years. I celebrated my 22st wedding anniversary this past September, 2009. My husband, Brett, is a Lee grad 1978.
I have 4 cats, no kids, had 3 corvettes as you can see by the picture. Yes, they were all mine at one time.
Things have changed considerably since I updated last. I am working at NOV in Houston and attending Sam Houston State University fulltime to complete my BBA in Human Resources Management. I hope to graduate December 2010.

School
I can't say I would ever want to do high school over again, but if I had to I would take a different approach...
College
Now this is the one I would really like to change. I did not take college seriously and got married before I finished. ***************
See above note, I have changed majors again. Biology was NOT for me. I'm much more of a people person***********
I have changed my major, I am now going for a science degree, possibly biology. If I am going to stay in the medical field I should really have a related degree. Of course this pushes me back a semester or two since I have to take 2 more science courses and one more math...and I'm SO good in math ya know...NOT! I will likely start my Bachelors now in the Spring of 2008. I don't like taking that much more time but it seems to be a necessity. THINGS HAVE CHANGED AGAIN...after much discussion I am taking my AA and walking the stage for commencement May 12th, then that college algebra class in the summer and off to A&M Spring of 2008. One last change, its Sam Houston State, not A&M, but Spring of 08 is happening. I am already registered and ready to go.
Workplace
UPDATE: I have been working part-time at an oil company here in Houston while I go to school fulltime.***************
Up until October 2002, I was working my way thru a decade and a half in the same industry, medical insurance. Unfortunately, layoffs happen and now I am connected with one of the premier cardiology groups in Southeast Texas. We shall see what happens once that degree of mine is completed. New update, I am about to start school as a fulltime student at SHSU and I am no longer working!
