Ken's Story
Ken is from Mississauga, Ontario. Ken's schools include Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School . Ken later attended University of Guelph (Resource Economics). Ken worked at Toronto District School Board for 14 years, but is now retired from the Hishkoonikun Education Authority in Kashechewan, Ontario, on the western shore of James Bay at the mouth of the mighty Albany River.. Happily married for a second time (everyone should get married at least once) , Ken has a daughter Beth who is 37 and is pregnant with my first grandchild.
He lives in downtown Toronto near Queen and Broadview. Ken loves his retirement. Lots of time for canoe tripping and other stuff.
I post plenty of pictures so you can see what I'm up to. Feel free to comment. My skin is a lot thicker than when I was a sweet, innocent, sensitive high school boy.

aching.
I will be finished my 4 years teaching here in Kashechewan on Friday June 28, 2019. I fly out for the last time at 3 p.m. It is strange to realize that I have taught my last class... ever. I have no intention of doing supply teaching. I have had enough of education. It is doing its best to ruin teaching.
I loved my time up here on James Bay. It's a tough life, the people here are resilient. They laugh through the hardships, the weather, the evacuations and the early and untimely deaths.
The kids are sweet and fun and struggling, like kids everywhere. Their education is developing... but they need more good, young, resilient teachers to come up and take a stand for them.
What's next? Who cares. Friends are always asking that. I don't know the answer. I'll just find out what's next when it appears. Close the chapter on this one, turn the page to the next one.
