Ken's Story

I was a freshman at UT in 1954. After my junior year, I had run out of money, so I enlisted in the Army be a linguist. After a year in Monterey, CA attending the Defense Language School, I graduated as a Serbo/Croatian (Yugoslav) linguist. After serving a year in northern Italy near Venice, then a year in southern Germany between Munich and Salzburg, Sergeant Davis left the Army and returned to UT, I graduated in 1962 with a BBA in marketing an advertising, I was hired by a large company in Chicago, but after working for them for six months I quit and got an officer's commission in the Air Force in 1963 where I served for 23 wonderful years with never a bad assignment. I began as an Intelligence Officer then served the last 12 years on the computer side of intelligence support. My assignments were Denver, SEA, Colorado Springs, San Antonio, D.C. Hawaii (my daughters were 6 and 3 when we got there and we spent a lot of time on the beaches), back to Colorado Springs, then back to Germany for my last...Expand for more
tour before retiring in 1985 back in Colorado Springs. There, I was hired by McDonnell Douglas Aerospace as a program director of a classified program. After 7 years, the company asked me to take over their Field Marketing Office in Boston, Did that for four years, then was transferred to the D. C. office. After two years, I had worked for Department of Defense-related organizations for forty years, so I took an early retirement and moved to Scottsdale, AZ. I had married a wonderful girl in 1965 and she followed me on most of these assignments. After 43 years of marriage she wanted to pursue her own interests, so we divorced. I left Arizona in 2012 after living there for 10 years (working at golf courses for nine of them), I moved back to Texas in 2012 and after four years married Linda, an East Texas girl who had been living in Austin for 20 years. We laugh a lot and have traveled a lot. Thanks to my cardiologists, urologists, orthopedists, pain doctors and a good chiropractor I'm still mobile.
