Ken's Story
Life
After graduation I went on to college at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. I did not know what I wanted to major in, so I returned to Danville and attended DJC. I finally settled on accounting and went back to BJU to finish up. I worked for a CPA firm for a couple of years in the Peoria area, and then went to work for a manufacturing company in Chicago. Next came a manager's job at an ad agency, where I met my wife. We were married in 1989. OK, I was a little slow out of the gate when it came to marriage. I ended up as the accounting manager at Encyclopedia Britannica, grew tired of accounting and moved onto software consulting. Ten years later, I'm still in consulting, have 3 kids and a home in Bolingbrook, IL. I regret that I missed the DHS 30 year reunion, I would have really liked to have seen everyone there. Guess I'll have to wait for the 40th. Take care and good luck to all of you till then.

Workplace
What a long strange trip its been! I started out in accounting and worked my way up the ladder. I worked for a CPA firm, a manufacturer, an ad agency and a publisher. Until I figured out that I did'nt really like accounting. It only took 13 years. It was good while it lasted, but I decided to look for something a bit more rewarding and fun. I've been in the software industry since 1992. I've been a consultant and project manager over the years. I travelled all across the US and overseas. I finally got the chance to use the Spanish that all of my teachers, from NorthRidge through Danville HS, tried to pound into my head. I filled a number of different roles while consulting, but found that I really loved training. I was doing that off and on for ten years, but finally focused on it for the past two years and I love it. I plan to get a masters in adult education and stay with it until retirement. Its been a lot of fun over the years and I've been lucky in my jobs, for the most part, and my friends, always.
