Ken's Story

Well wanted to start my story on how I got here. I am transiting through the UK going back to the Middle East. My lifeline, mobile phone, internet access, email, communications got way meesed up, in other words none of the above but internet. I had never been to Scotland so I thought it would be nice, mostly after a bit everywhere in the world is the same. Since I had no comms I thought I would see if my Mom was from here somewhere or could find some of her relatives. Newly issued computer only searches in German of which I only can say please and thanks so not much help there, but I did see "Classmates" keep popping up. It was one of the few sites that would load quicker than 10 minutes. As usual I thought no I don't want to join this, exposure, not a good idea I could go on and on, but then I thought hell I turned 50 at the end of last year already lived 25 years longer than I thought I would so I joined. Also a thought came to mind as we become adults we think I would never make the same childish mistakes of my youth, embarrassment, coomunication issues...then caught myself still thinking the same way. Of course I didn't write any personal info at first. Then after visiting a few sites and left a few messages it was seeming kinda creepy. Especially if it noted the time I visited. I am 8 to 12 hours in front of everyone because of the time zones I am in. That would look creepy, visiting sites in the middle of the night. So this is how I got here. Now the reason I got here is it would be nice to see old friends and aquaintances (hope it spell checks) Now that my creepiness explanation is out of the way I will write the bio that everyone writes. I saw everyone at our 10 year reunion, one of the best times of my life. Just finished a "crappy" assignment, never do that again...famous last words. So for those who were not there. Actually graduated from Carson ...Expand for more
High even though I am in the senior photos in the year book at Wooster. Miscommunication with my Dad caused me to find other living accomodations, since remedied and since I am a Dad myself now never mentioned around my kids. Graduated 1978 on line with everyone just not the same school. Saw Steve Daniels and he challenged me that I probably could not pass the Reno PD physical test. Did that got hired, did some real interesting things. Met some of you in a good light and some bad either way made the best of it. Made grade, made rank, made administration got hurt and got medical'd out. Decided it was time to settle down now that I got buggered up and during my last few years at Reno met Val my wife of 18 years now. Person I am going to sit on the porch with and grow old with when I retire from what I do now. Can't resist in telling how we met, see Val is a local Reno girl also and she knows me well. We were assigned to assist in guarding General Schwarzkopf after the Gulf War ended and I met her at an after action party at the El Dorado, hot tub. So from here after being busted up I thought I would check out. We married had 2 boys and moved to Fallon. For me this was great. Raising horses and cows and no high speed work. One of the horses even won a race in California. Ran horses at some of the big tracks it was nice. After a bit Val told me to go back to work. Did that. Knocked around doing work I could qualify for as my skill set is not in high demand. Raised the boys in Fallon - great commnity, people are great, sports are top notch. Moved back to Sparks on Christma eve last year when I got back from overseas. The boys attend Spanish Springs Schools and life is nice. Look forward to seeing all of you at some time or another. We are living at Wingfield. I will definitely be at the next reunion. Write and say hey most of the time my email works.
