Ken's Story
Life
I attended Arizona State University where I studied to be a Mathematics teacher. I ran track (near 4 min mile) and cross country for the university. I became a police officer on the Tempe AZ Department in '71 and have worked in a variety of assignments over almost 32 years including officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, positions in Narcotics, motorcycles enforcement, SWAT, on loan to Federal Narcotics (DEA), Training Sergeant at the Phoenix Regional Police Academy,Bureau Commander in all of the above, on & on... I have 5 wonderful children 33, 31, 28, 18 & 16. My hobbies are mostly in endurance sports, big wall rock and mountain climbing, nordic and downhill skiing, bike racing, and too many others to afford, or stay up with. My wife and I retired from Tempe and I took a job as Town Marshal in a small mountain town 15 miles west of Boulder,CO. The politics have been trying but the job is rewarding. is attending Creighton University on-line working on a PHD in Pharmacy. She and Kelley, our youngest, will graduate in 2012 (Kel from HS) Then I'll retire again and play more...like more trips to Europe, more exercise, more music (70's rock guitar) and projects.
Sabrina and I have been coaching running sports for over 23 years (15 in Az & 8 here in CO). Our girls cross country team in Colorado recently (2008 & 2009 & 2010) won the state championship, with Kelley placing 1st and Kat in 3rd.
View the video of this race and of Kelley winning the USATF National CC Championship in 2006. Let me know how you feel after watching.
