Ken's Story

Schools include Moon High School. then Stanford University (Biology/Art) . After undergrad there I became a National Science Foundation Trainee in molecular biology at UCLA, completed my C Phil and worked on my dissertation (about a technique for sequencing DNA) for another year. Before that research was finished a friend and I were walking one afternoon when we were struck by a speeding car as we crossed a street, in the crosswalk- a month and a half in the hospital for my friend, three months for me- we were both very lucky to live. The driver committed suicide. My life changed- I never went back to complete that dissertation. I began recording production dialogue for films- mainly features and documentaries (more than 3 dozen features -- Howling, Gremlins, Savannah S...Expand for more
miles, Pulp Fiction, Looney Tunes, ..... and, at least, a hundred documentaries -- Nat Geo shoots about grizzly bears, whooping cranes, caves, redwoods, rattle snakes, China, house cats, endangered species, etc.- plus others for Nova, PBS, BBC, French TV). It's been a satisfying career that has taken me to at least forty-five states in this country and to more than twenty other countries. I've been nominated for half a dozen Emmys (won two of them) including the last two seasons of Lost. A British Academy Award nomination for Pulp Fiction, and a couple other awards. I live happily in Venice, CA, enjoy a little vegetable gardening, take care of a couple rabbits and a couple of egg-laying hens, and make some of the best compost in town! I stay healthy by walking, a lot.
