Ken's Story
After graduation from high school, I attended and graduated from Westchester Community College; then worked in Manhattan for two years as a fire insurance inspector; then four years in the Air Force, with stations in Texas, Germany, and California; then three years at SUNY ESF in Syracuse. While at Syracuse, I married the love of my life, Kathy Everson who was living in Port Chester, while working for IBM; we were able to spend a semester in Verona, Italy, where I studied land use in a Roman colonial city. After graduating with degrees in Forestry and Landscape Architecture I got a job as a Community Planner at the Bucks County Planning Commission in Doylestown, PA. That was 1973, and we've been there ever since; buying and renovating a historic house near the downtown; raising two children, Rebecca and Jonathan. After thirteen years I left ...Expand for more
the Planning Commission and worked for three other employers as a town planner. Rebecca has a degree in Recreational Therapy, is married, has two beautiful children, both girls: Grace (4) and Audrey (1)and lives in Winston-Salem, NC. Check out my Facebook page for photos. Jon has followed in his father's footsteps, has a BS in economics and a MS in community planning and is working for the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission as a transportation planner. After retiring in 2007, I'm playing golf again after a 25+ year layoff; and I'm involved in my community as a member of the Youth Aid Panel, a committee that works with the police department, mentoring youthful first time offenders; and at my church, Doylestown United Methodist, as head usher for the late service; and as chair of a planning committee on church growth.
