Kenneth's Story

Recent Contacts: Have fairly recently made contact with Richard Boyden, my first room mate at Pacific Univ, and I cherish this great contact every time we communicate.I have contacted Leon Meade, also, a Phi Beta Tau frat brother, as well. My Children: My daughters are independent and making their own way, three have children, and I am a now a great grandfather, (truly GREAT)already at least once, with 5 grandchildren entering the child bearing ages!!! I am proud of them all. My son Kenneth Jr. in his mid 40's, is working on many projects and will also do great things in his life, also, soon. Almost too handsome, he is also very oriented towards making the most of his life. He has a 13 year old son, Kenneth C. Dixson, III, who lives with his mom in Nevada. My son's divorce has removed this grandchild from my eyes, but never my heart. Military After graduating from both OSC and TBS, (Officer's Candidate School and The Basic School) in Quantico, VA, I was sent to Motor Transport Officers School, Montford Point, So. Carolina(Camp Lejeune) and from there received orders to WesPac, and became a member of 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Divison, in Vietnam. In February, 1970 I was assigned to 1st Motor Transport Battalion and became the S-5 after a short stint as the Executive Officer, Bravo Company, 1st Motor Transport Battalion. I returned to the US in August, 1970, and later rejoined the active Marine Corps Reserve as the platoon commander, of the Motor Transport platoon, HQ. 4th Engineer Battalion, at Swan Island, in Portland, Oregon where I served until January 1975. In September 1972 I started Law School at the North West School of Law, Lewis & Clark University, Portland, Oregon graduating in May, 1976. I practiced law in Portland from Septmber, 1977 until May 1988, as a sole practitioner, although I shared space with two former classmates, Keith Raines, now a Washington County, Oregon Circuit Judge, and Roosevelt Robinson,(deceased) who was a Mutlnomah County Circuit Judge at the time of his untimely death in 2005. Since returning to the Los Angeles area in 1989, I have been a bail bondsman, a private investigator, a claims manager, a used car salesman, and now, while semi-retired, have been re-conditioning wooden and fiberglass sail and power boats with an eye towards finding the "right" boat to sail, or power a circumnavigation of the earth before I am too old to do it, or enjoy it. I have been divorced and estranged from my wife of 25 years, Lillian Marie (Nakamura) Dixson since 1991. My Health: I am now seeking compensation for complications arising out of my military service in Vietnam like many others my age who spent at least one 13 month "tour" in Vietnam. I believed John F. Kennedy who said, "ask not what my country can do for me, but what can I do for my country" or something like that. We were just kids off the streets and prairies and hills all across America, just like the young men and...Expand for more
women overseas today. They are, "us" in every sense. I didn't "dwell" on my Vietnam experiences too much until recently, with all the controversy over deployment of more troops, all while the carnage goes on, daily. Don't ever send armed US troops into a foreign land and not expect some casualties, but make sure there is a valid reason for sending them, in the first place. If our reasons for going are soooo bad, then remember to "hate the sin, but not the sinner." My book will put some interesting, but little known historical twists on geo political events since 1975, after the US pulled out of South Vietnam. Have been in contact with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia brothers recently, but have not seen any evidence of any brothers from Mu Cai chapter that was formerly at Pacific University when it had an active music scene. I still sing oldies when I can with friends who are entertainers, if, or when I get called up to do a number on a set. I used to hit the karoake bars like "Dimples" in Burbank, but no more. My "pipes" are stronger than when I was younger since I haven't smoked in 11 years, so I can really hit some notes even better now. Iv'e got my own version of "My Way" that folks seem to really enjoy, and I love to do my version of "For Your Love." I had planned to use a digital recording studio I put together over a few yearsto make some recordings of my favorite songs and some I've written, but that project went on temp hold when my storage unit was vandalized by person's who had too much knowledge of the contents of my private storage unit. The Future: I hope to connect with a seriously pious woman, who can make "quality time" in her life for me, and who understands that there are no Earthly bonds, or bounds that can hold back one who Knows. I have Seen, and Felt, and I truly believe that prayer and meditation is the way to Knowledge, since of course there will be set backs in life, but these are simply to remind you of who, and where you are at any given time. I may try to teach, at some level, or get involved with a truly committed Christian outreach. I have looked a Buddism, Islam, Hinduism, VooDoo, and several others, particularly West African religious efforts and understand that our membership in this aspect of human existence is proof of a universal inner yearning of men and women for purpose, or meaning in life, and of agreater need for comprehension of the perameters of our existence. It is this great and universal yearning for some "order" which to me, is proof that in all of us who are not psychopathic, there are many aspects in life which require us to be, or all to become a truly, "spiritual being," in some respect, since those who try to live without some ethical\spiritual or moral "center," life on Earth as we perceive it, is incomprehensible, and is simply the result of a fantastic, unbroken chain of fortuitous circumstances. I already that know I will find the spiritual and Knowing companion I seek.
