Life
aah where to begin... I'm currently married and have 2 kids ages 19 & 17 ( anyone feeling old yet)
To start with I have been with the Dept of Corrections since 1984,I have worked in several facilities through out the state starting out in Greenhaven until 1989, I then worked in a few local facilities and also worked for approximately 4 years in the Rome NY area until 1992 moving back to Sullivan county where we currently reside . I guess the most remarkable thing of that is I am able to retire in less than 1 year (Amen) .
I also own a small contracting business I started in 1994 after 12 years of working for my fathers company where I started actually in 1981 part time , and full time in may of 1983 at first building and remodeling homes , bars, and businesses , and then remodeling hotels for a local chain. Upon retiring from the State I will most likely go back to hotel remodeling as my fathers business had , through our old contacts . Most of my current work deals with REO work for forclosed properties, as well as code enforcement for local municipalities, and home renovations in and around sullivan county.
My hobbies include collecting bar memorabilia from bar mirrors to neons ,...Expand for more
to pre prohibition articles & documents ( although I dont really drink anymore) I have quite the collection as well as a custom built wet bar that most taverns would envy kind of a reminder of days gone by , but a passion that never seems to dwindle
another of my hobbies or passions is reading and collecting items from the civil war , World War 1 and 2 and korea and vietnam although my main focus is world war 2 .
I have been collecting a wide assortment of relics form the first and second world war ,many original pieces for about 15 now. the first few years seemed like a relatively easy process , a slow process now , but remarkable the interest in the past 7 for such has grown making it a bit more challenging to say the least.
we also do travel quite a bit we love either Montreal , St Catherine street, or Niagra falls Canada, Vegas ,AC , we have seen many civil war battlefields we also spend a few weeks each winter in florida .
I guess I can say things are where I am comfortable and can't complain for wanting more or less just content at where I'm at at this point in my life , wanting more or less is something. I cannot help so long as I live within my means.
