Kenneth's Story
I obtained my undergraduate degree in cello performance from UCSB in 1964. I was drafted into the army and was a bandsman (combat cellist). I also played tenor sax in the marching band and string bass in the concert band at Fort Monroe, Va until 1966. I began teaching in Norfolk Virginia Public schools in 1966. I also performed with the Norfolk Symphony. In 1969, I moved to Connecticut to obtain my Masters degree in cello performance at U. Conn. I also performed with the Hartford Symphony. of Northern Iowa and Started work on my Doctorate degree in cello performance at the U. of Iowa. Then in 1980 I began teaching at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. I moved to London in 1987 and I taught String Orchestra at The American School in London for 15 years. I moved back to the United States in 2003 and started the Orchestra program at two local high schools in Williamsburg, Virginia. I now teach a 17 private students in my home here in Williamsburg. My wife, Janet, also teaches private lessons in our home in Williamsburg.
