Life
STILL a professional actor, I've been very lucky, doing what I love to do! After Ridgemont: Ryerson Theatre Dept in Toronto, where I met future wife Jacqueline...pursued acting career with moderate success in T.O. Married 1977. Moved to England 1983. Active London-based career under new stage name "Kenneth Jay", (Kenneth Williams already being used by a certain "Carry On" star!) Mostly stage including weekly rep, Edinburgh festival, national & European tours, and London West End. Also some TV, radio, film, and audio books. Best part is that over the last few years I've had the privilege to work in some of the most beautiful theatres, old and new, all over the U.K. and in London's West End, in both minor and major (as well as understudy) roles, with some great people: Felicity Kendal; Art Malik; Steve Guttenburg; Richard Dreyfuss; Marsha Mason; Donald Sutherland; Brian Dennehy. Other highlights: *4-month stint as Dr. Baugh in West End production of "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" (Lyric Theatre)with a wonderful cast which included Brendan Fraser and Ned Beatty.
* "Naked Justice", a new play by "Rumpole of the Bailey" author John Mortimer, starring Leslie Philips (another Carry On star!!) and Simon Ward.
*Understudied major role in "Up For Grabs", starring Madonna (her West End "acting" debut) at Wyndham's Theatre in London.
*Played Harry Truman in Emmy-winning BBC drama documentary "Hiroshima"
So much for the name dropping...are you still here? I live in Leytonstone in London's East End with wife Jacqueline (brilliant tap dancer) Youngest son Geoffrey, 20 attends University of Plymouth Oldest son Kevin is 24 and graduate of University of Sussex.
Would love to hear from anyone who remembers the good old days: Harvey, Each In His Own Way, Constantinople Smith, Sneaky Fitch, the famous Variety Shows, Mr Pottinger, Uncle Ed Turner, etc...
