Kenneth's Story

After graduation my Mom and Dad ( who got remarried to each other the year before ,after 15 years apart) moved to Calgary Alberta Canada where my Dad had been living the whole time. I stayed in North Seattle on my own for the first part of the summer of 81. After struggling for a few months in that bad economy I moved up to Calgary to stay with my newly reunited parents. The economy in Calgary was booming and my Dad got me a job as an apprentice Iron Worker. I had been working about a month When I turned 18. My Dad told me the day after my birthday that I had a day to find my own place to live. Thats the last time I received any financial help from my folks. Looking back its the best thing anyone ever did for me. I lived and worked and partied in Calgary for the next year and a half. Man what a town back then. Because of the boom and everyone coming from other places to work, the average age was 26. The average age in Seattle at the time was 45 and its probably higher now. While I was there I got engaged. The bottom fell out with a thud in 83 and so I left my bride to be and came back to the states. There was still not a lot of work in Seattle but I got a job at Shakeys Pizza in the Udist. rented a room and got a financial grant at Seattle Central.I met a girl and got engaged. I got good enough grades that first quarter to get a scholastic scholarship for the next three quarters. For any of you who remember what a bad student I was in high school thi...Expand for more
s was a big deal. I was so full of confidence from placing rebar in Canada in all kinds of weather ( I work many days in -20 decrees or less) and was good at it, that I figured no matter how much smarter or more talented others might be I could out work anyone. I've applied that to everything in life since. I wasn't the best groom to be so we split up. Eventually I took a job at Boeing and quit school. I met a girl and got engaged. Unfortunately I applied the same work ethic to partying as everything else and the job and girl all went away.Yes thats three actual engagements so far. From 87 to 91 I worked off and on at this and that. I found my way back to placing rebar but still partied way to much. In August of 91 I quite partying. It took me awhile but I eventually found the rite girl and married her last year. She's a Nathan Hale girl and she's GREAT!!! Her name is Michelle and she has three kids from a previous marriage. All girls. I never had sisters so I had no idea what a lot of work girls are to raise. They are 16,13,and9. there names are Mel, Katy, and Abby and they are great kids. I am now a superintendent for Pacer Steel inc. ( You can go to the web site at pacersteel.com and look at all the cool job photo's) and am very happy with what I do. Mom past away in 97 and Dad in 04. Well there's alot more boring stuff but I'm getting type r's cramp so so long and maybe I'll see ya at the next reunion or you'll email me. Kenny Noonan
