Kenny's Story

New story. Still work for the same company(since 1981), we are being merged with another company......still doing the same job, flying around the world supporting customers that rent our aircraft. Most of my work is done on Boeing 747 and Airbus A330 aircraft. I have a great job but it requires me to be away from home far too much. On the other hand, I've seen and done things I would have never dreamed of doing and been places you only read about in books or on the internet. Get to talk to and get to know real heros (military) and people I'd never thought I get to meet......wouldn't change jobs with too many people! I'm married to the same young lady now for 20 years. She's understanding of the job and takes up my slack when I'm away. A WMHS grad. That being said, she has turned colors and supports JGHS and our kids. (Cheerleading Booster Club Exective Board member for the last two years!). She looks good in red-white and blue! August through February I'm busy flying most of the time (I fly with an NFL team and on off weeks, NCAA teams.....) so every weekend I'm gone. She has put up with it....year in, year out. The rest of the year I spend with the military transporting troops around the globe. she and my kids tell their friends I work for the CIA because I'm gone so much. I couldn't ask for a better mate. (Kuwait in the summer is no picnic!) Speaking of children - Yes.... I was allowed to breed! Indeed, I have three! Oldest son is in the Army. He's a gunner on a Humvee doing Force Protection in Iraq right now. Home for at least a year at the end of December. You really don't know the feeling until they are over there but it's been a long year. My job took me to within five miles of his base but we were unable to connect. My wife and I are proud parents of a US Army Soldier. Please say a prayer for him and his fellow soldiers. He played football at JGHS for four years.....outstanding running back (how the hell did he get that fast? Running from me!) 17 (18 in December!)year old daughter is a Senior Varsity Cheerleadering Captain at JGHS! Wow! What happened to the time? Seems like yesterday I was sending her off to kindergarden and now she's a senior! Cheerleading is now a varsity sport and anyone who says it's not needs to pay for the surgery (x2) my daughter...Expand for more
has had while cheering. Just had her entire shoulder rebuilt so she can cheer in her final season. She got pins inserted so we'll see if she rusts soon! Big time daddy's girl.....looks like she is going to Saginaw Valley State University for school......overall good kid. 11 year old son. This one you can write a book about! 11 going on 30.......way too smart for either parent. Watch for him to be president one day. Heading to Stevenson Middle School (what the hell is that anyways?) so we'll see if he changes. He is a joy to watch grow. Sorce of our family entertainment because you never know what Jake will come up with next. A late addition to our family but I wouldn't trade him for anything. I enjoyed my high school years and the school did a great job getting me ready for the rest of my life. I look back often (when I'm in some of the strangest places!)and remember my friends and the fun times we had. I moved back to the area so my kids could attend JGHS but I've learned you can't go home. The place isn't the same and it doesn't turn out people like us now. Kids aren't the same, teachers arn't the same, the district isn't the same.....times arn't the same...(too much MTV!) as much as I wish it was. It has made me aware just how lucky WE all were to be there when we were. My daughter has said many times she wishes she was there when I was there..........sad. It took me a few years after graduation to shake off childhood and get on with my life. Did alot of stupid things and have big regrets but if you learn from it, and don't make the mistake twice (shame on me) then grow from it, you'll be okay. My wife says she doesn't think she'd like me very much in my post-high school days....she's right. Loyality is everything to me. I'm as loyal as the day is long until I get screwed then you're dead to me. Just the way it is. Would I change anything in my life? The early years right out of school, yes. After growing up? Nope. It's been a good life. I can say now, if it ended today, it's been a very good adulthood. Wish I had a time machine and could go back and fix mistakes I made (those involved, I am very, very sorry. I did turn out better then I was headed!!!) and right all my wrongs but you can't and so I've lived with it. One regret. One too many. Nuff said.
