Kent's Story

Kent is married with Connie Durvin. His schools include Henrico High School. He later attended Udemy (Web Coding, CompTIA A+), Ohio Institute of Technology (Electronics). He works(ed) at Best Buy, Southern Graphic Systems, Lanman Dominion. Kent's interests include A Way with Words, Nature photography, Nature. Music he likes includes Regina Spektor, Lucy Schwartz, The Be Good Tanyas. Books he likes include The Griff, Sci Fi, Science fiction. Movies he likes include science fiction, Fantasy. TV shows he likes include Syfy, HISTORY, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. One of Kent's favorite quotes is:"Clarke's laws: 1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong. 2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. 3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit. -The Tick It is bad luck to be superstitious. - Andrew W. Mathis People ...Expand for more
who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like. - Abraham Lincoln". More about Kent:"Type: INTJ I am a naturalist. That does not mean I am an expert. It is just what I do, like a musician plays music. It took me this long to notice that when I have time, I go to nature. I don't watch sports, or golf, etc. I go to the woods, or a park, the nearby Chickahominy Swamp, or the James River several times each week if it is warm enough. I take pictures of wildflowers and mushrooms, and I record the sounds of frogs and birds. I have a basic kayak to help me get closer to nature. I am kind of a geek. That is not bad; It just means that I look at the world with a curiosity about how things work. I like it when things break; It is a logic puzzle. I love technology, including computers, electronics, photography, and stunt kites. I want to learn something every day. I do not care about style or fashion. If I wear a tie, I feel sad, because somebody died and I am at the funeral. I do not like ceremony. Function is critical. Ornamentation is useless. Design is important: It means the fusion of form and function. I am a skilled photographer. I am good at FileMaker Pro database design. I am a Mac lover. I have many pictures on Facebook.".

OK, make that a toad he is eating. You can see the stripes better in this one.
Skink, James River Park
It is a Garter Snake.
We got a real treat: A snake eating a toad! He was crossing the road at Reedy Creek at James River Park. He went into the grass to swallow his unlucky prey.
More invisible frogs. You only see them when they splash. I saw one here, but when I got closer, 3 jumped in. The second one is just above the obvious frog.
He was very long, maybe 3' or more.
A Ribbonsnake in the water. They live near water and eat frogs and fish. He was very still.
A dozen jumped in as I approached, but this one came back. Green frogs are mostly not green around here.
I think this is a Leopard Frog, but I can't quite make out the dorsolateral folds. He was small. At Cold Harbor.

Fence lizard? He is well hidden on this log.
Fence lizard?
Female American Bullfrog. Female because the tympanum (the circle behind the eye) is about the size of the eye, not larger) Bullfrog because the ridge by the eye (dorsolateral fold) turns and goes down the side.
Northen water snake. There were 3 in an area less than 5 feet across. Bryan park.
Pikerel Frog, but very brown. Some of them are more green. Bryan park.
Eastern Box Turtle. You should see what a dog does when he sees one. They won't hurt it, but the just don't understand it.
Salamander egg mass at Meadow Farm Park.
We went back and saw one of the same snakes. He is ready to molt: His eyes are cloudy.
Northern Water Snake
