Kent Hester:  

Life I was born in Fitzgerald GA in 1962. I attended elementary school in Fitzgerald and Perry GA; junior high in Perry GA, Excel AL, Canton MS, and Fitzgerald GA; and high school in Swainsboro GA and Rossville GA. I graduated from Rossville Comprehensive High School in 1979. After graduating from high school, I worked briefly as an electrician's helper before attending Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN to major in mathematics. After less than a year at Trevecca, I came to the conclusion that I had no idea what I really wanted to do in life, so I joined the Navy in 1980 and served for six years. I spent two years training in the Navy's nuclear power training program and qualified as a submarine nuclear plant electrical operator. After completing my training, I served on the USS Silversides for four years--stationed for two years in Norfolk VA and two years in Bremerton WA. I also completed a six-month Mediterranean deployment during that time. I married my wife, Janet, in 1989. She came complete with two children as well.
