Kerbela's Story
Life
So here I am almost 30 yrs after high school and now that life has finally started to slow down, I'm curious how my classmates are doing. Hope everyone is doing great!!!! As for me, I relocated to Logan, Utah in 2000 along with my husband Greg and my 2 kids Sara (21) and Austin (18). Ventura was great but had become just a little to big and I no longer wished to live the fast paced (and expensive) life Ventura had to offer. While the beach was great, I realized I wasn't a beach lover and that the mountains and the seasons have stolen my heart, and although Ventura is a neat place, it has just become a nice place to visit. Interestingly enough I have ran into many former Venturans who were also seeking out the calmness and serenity of a smaller town.
School
My favorite year at Ventura High was my senior year. Had lots of fun, lots of friends and many happy memories.
College
You might say I never "went away to college". I attended Ventura college and obtained my A.A. degree and my A.S. in Nursing. I literally lived right across the street from VC and my parents...Expand for more
didn't somehow didn't feel it made sense to pay university tuitions when I could obtain my nursing degree at VC. It's ok though because up to now it has not made any difference in my career as to whether I have a bachelors or not.
Workplace
Once I entered the Nursing program at VC I began working at Ventura County Medical Center (also known as the County Hospital). After obtaining my RN license in Jan.'83 I began working first on the Med.-Surg. floor then in 1985 transferring into the Outpatient Dept. My intention was to work there 1 year after becoming a nurse...I finally left in 2000 when I left Ventura. Guess I must have liked it there! Over the years I did registry work which esposed me to other hospitals such as Cottage Hosp. in Santa Barbara, St. John's, Ojai Valley (when it was still there) and Santa Barbara Rehab. I am currently working in a specialty hospital in north Logan, and was given the privilege of opening up the Outpt Dept of a new hospital. I initally started w/2 nurses in the dept and I now have 7 nurses. I also work recovery room along w/outpatient.
