Kerry's Story
Life
More than 15 years ago, thanks to a game show windfall (see 25th reunion booklet), I was fortunate enough to be able to buy my own home. I've lived in my townhouse ever since, but that's another thing I'm hoping to change soon. I am in the process of looking for a new job (time for a change!), and once I know where I'm going to be working I'll start looking for a new home. Who knows? I may even venture out of California for the first time in my life!
I've taken up a couple of new hobbies since the last time I saw/spoke to some of you. A couple of years ago I learned about archery and now have my own bow...a beautiful Ben Pearson vintage recurve! That probably sounds like a foreign language to anyone who doesn't know the sport...the most noteworthy thing is that I shoot at the same range where Gina Davis was training for the Olympics (she didn't make the team). But my latest and greatest passion is golf. I just took it up a couple of years ago, so I'm not very good...but I do have a lot of fun!
College
Well, I don't have to go very far back to revist my college days. I just finishe...Expand for more
d my bachelor's degree in marketing...finally! I started back in November 2002, and by the time I see you all at our 30th reunion I'll be a college graduate! Drop me a line if you've been thinking about going back to school--I'll be happy to provide whatever inspiration/motivation I can.
Workplace
I recently "celebrated" my 15th anniversary at California Institute of Technology (Caltech--the "earthquake place"). I started out in the geology division working for three faculty members. From there, I moved to the Alumni Association where I discovered my passion and talent for graphic design. Six years ago, I was promoted to a marketing coordinator position in the planned giving program. In addition to designing and coordinating all of the marketing tools (newsletters, brochures, web site, etc.) I also managed the office and supervised the department assistant. Recently, thanks to a reorganization of the development operation, I was transferred to the marketing and stewardship group as Communications Specialist. Too soon to tell, but I think it's time to make a change...more on that later.
