Kerstin (Kiki)'s Story
Life
1983-1985 Went to Kent Stark. Majored in Education, but dropped out when I realized I couldn't stand other people's kids for more than a few minutes!
1985-1995 US Army Military Police Corps. Germany (Berlin, Giessen, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Vilsek) & Ft. Hood, TX. Married a soldier, had two sons. Worked for US State Dept, was first woman to guard US Mission. Received the Berlin Coin for Marksmanship (Shooting) fro Commanding General. Divorced.
1995-2002 Married a soldier and ended up follwing him to Ft. Lewis, WA, Bamberg, Germany and Ft. Riley, KS. Was elected as Prsident of the Family Support Group. Received over 20 awards and citations for volunteer work within the military community. Worked as Tour Guide in Europe, spent most of my time in Spain! Took up scuba diving, rock climbing and boating. Divorced in 2002.
2002-2003 Milford, KS & Newton, KS. Volunteered for the Kansas National Guard Family Readiness while boyfriend was deployed.
2003 to 2004 Moved back to Canton and bought a house. Am restoring it. Veterans Administration fully retired me. Volunteer for the Red Cross Rape Crisis and Military Services, also volunteer at MAPS(Military Air Preservation Society). Interviewed on vide about my military career to be placed in the Library of Congress. Also have my stories and pictures at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial in Washington, D.C. Have started a web site of my writings ...contact me to see it!

School
In Grades K-5, I was VERY popluar and...Expand for more
weel liked! A tom-boy at times. In 6th GRade started a new school in new state. Was teased constantly. Was a first rate LOSER in High School. Nobody thought I'd amount to much. I desperately hated being picked on, wanted to be liked. My shining moment came when I went to tryouts for the Fashion Show. Only seniors were allowed to try out and when my best friend and I walked into the room, the other girls all laughed. I was picked to model! I walked out on that runway and SHINED! Found some new respect! The second best time in HS was my date with Bryan. We went to a school dance and I was thrilled! I'll never forget him sitting with me up in the band section at a football game. He even took my UGLY band hat and put it on!
College
Went to Kent State Stark for over a year. While in the Army, I atteneded Central Texas College. Also "did time" at: Barton Community College, Kansas State University and Tacoma Community College.
While at Kent, I was elected to the Student Senate.
Military
Joined the Army in 1985. Went through basic and AIT at Ft. McClellan, AL. I got my first assignment to Berlin, Germany! That had to be the BEST duty assignment ever! Worked on the road as an MP, then went on to work for the US State Dept. and became the first woman to guard a US Embassy/Mission!!!
Got out a few years later. Was called back in again for Saudi and was reclassed as a generator mech. Never made it to the desert though. Spent my time in Giessen, Germany with 4/43 ADA. My unit packed up and moved to Ft. Hood, where I got out a few years later!
