Kevin's Story
Well, let¿s see. . . my life story.
I graduated Ballou in 1983 and I weigh about two pounds more than when I graduated; the scale reads a whopping 127 lbs. Still skinny!
As far as education goes, after High School I attended UDC where I earned two undergraduate degrees, one in Business Management, and the other in English. From there, I attended Georgetown (yes, the same school that I attended while at Ballou in the Upward Bound Program) and received a graduate degree in Liberal Studies, with a concentration in religion. From there I attended Howard University where I enrolled into a Ph.D. program in African Studies (not finished yet).
As far as career goes, Nate and I partnered up for a while right after high school and ran Bryant & Bryant Roofing until the mid 1990s; I still do some consulting every now and then for that company. After graduate school, I taught in the English department at UDC briefly before I...Expand for more
secured a faculty position in Howard University¿s English department for about six years, until last semester 2008. Next year, I will be an adjunct professor at Georgetown University teaching an argumentative writing course on Malcolm X, which is essentially the history of Islam in America. My wife and I own an IT company, BITS: Bryant¿s Information Technology Solutions, so any computer geeks can holla¿ at me.
As far as family goes, I have been abundantly blessed with a beautiful pious wife, Zainb Abbas, from Ghana. We have been honeymooning for four years now and we have two sons together, Muhammad Khadir, and Sulayman Ali, (they are three and two-years-old, respectively) and we have another baby on the way, due in October. Zainab has two daughters from a previous marriage, Nadia and Mansura (ten and eight-years-old, respectively).
My crowning achievement: being Muslim.
May we all be guided to the One Truth.
