Kevin's Story
Life
I'm living in the just outside Philadelphia, and I've been here for over 7 years. My wife and I have been married for 6 years and we are expecting our first child, a son, in September. We have two dogs, a yellow Lab (110 lbs.) and a chocolate lab (60 lbs.). I've just installed a yard pond this spring complete with koi, and the necessary landscaping. We are also working on restoriing an 1890's victorian home. We like to ski, camp, bike, play tennis, sail and all sorts of other outdoor activities. I'm currently working to finish a Doctorate in the next 18 months. I've also been enjoying playing a full contact medieval combat game called Dagorhir.
College
College was fun. I worked my freshman year and took it easy the rest. I had to learn to study and read, but after that it all came rather easily. I refused to do all nighters, but I loved dorm life. I didn't study untill after midnight and always, almost always, had an eight o'clock class. As a religion and philosophy major, I was inclined to those conversations about meaning and exist...Expand for more
ance. Always a fun conversation to have with those who have had to much to drink...
Workplace
For any who remember McGough's fruit market in Wilmore that was my first job, which was followed by a bussing stint at the Jolly Roger in Richland. In college I worked in a corner market, as a Campground Chaplin in State Parks in PA, and as a youth pastor for a church in Dayton Va. Then I spent three years as a pastor in Bedford County PA, then four years pastoring in Harrisonburgh Ohio, and now in Philadlephia as the Pastor of Philadelphia First Church of the Brethren. It's nice having a secretary and staff to work with here at First Church. I also get to be the IT expert on sight and just upgraded our network. I enjoy spending time working in New Testament Greek Translation and Old Testament history, I'm still working on Hebrew and Latin. Preaching and teaching are the two areas that I enjoy the most, but a wedding is always fun. I'm not a counselor, but I do some work with spiritual formation, small group leadership development and christian education.
