Kevin's Story
I got married some 27 years ago to wonderful intelligent and fulfilled women named Janet. I promptly went back to university and eventually completed a degree in abnormal psych.I worked as social worker and addictions counsellor both in the criminal justice system and public service in the small town of Clearwater BC. We had 1 female child and then moved to Cambridge Bay (CB) in the Northwest Territories working with the NWT Housing Corporation. CB was in 1991 a small Inuit community of 850 people on an Island at 70th paralel. 14 months and 11 days later I was promoted to the Distrct Office in Yellowknife eventually became a District Manager for the Northwest Territories housing Corporation.
My wife was Lawyer in Merritt when I met her and she returned to work for the Education Department here in YK as legal policy advisor. Our daughter was 8 when we adopted a baby boy from my wife's cousin. A few years lat...Expand for more
er, tired of public service in housing, I went back to school to become a NURSE. I would have liked to study to be Doctor but with a young family that proved impossible. Nursing was the next best thing. So I worked full time evenings and most weekends for 30 months while attending college and became a RN.
So I have been in nurisng almost 10 years and am now the Manager of Mental Health Services and Extended Care Services for Stanton Hospital. My daughter Roya has completed 2 years of Univeristy in Kamloops and then came home and appled for a unique proffessional writting degree program at Grant McQuen Edmonton and will be attending this year.
My wonderful well adjusted handsome son is 13 now and he is going into grade 9. My wife and I are looking very much forward to our retirement in 3-5 years. In the meantime I am looking a starting a masters degree in something useful.
