Kevin's Story
Life
My wife, Christine and I are going on 21-years of marriage (22 April). We have 4 great kids: Sean, 15; Brendan, 11; Shannon and Logan, 7 (yeah thatÂs right twins).
Army:
After leaving the 275th in Â81, I joined the 73rd Transportation Company at Fort Eustis. I worked as a Boatswains Mate on coastal tugs until I was selected to attend the Harbor Craft Deck OfficerÂs Course. I was selected for Warrant in June of Â84 and had the dubious joy of being one of the first Âwalking warrants to attend the basic course at Fort Âmother Rucker.
Upon graduation in August of Â84, I reported aboard the USAV General William J. Sutton (469th Transportation Detachment). We sailed all over the East coast, Caribbean, and Pacific Ocean waters off Central America.
On leaving the 469th, I was assigned to the 329th T...Expand for more
ransportation Company where I took command of the USAV Belleau Wood (LCU 1668).
I received a direct commission on leaving the 329th, and worked on several assignments with NOAAÂs Commissioned Corps until 1996.
I returned to the Army in 1996 and took command of the 309th Transportation Company at Fort Story. What a great assignment! After leaving command I stayed with the 11th Battalion for about 6-months. My final assignment with the Army was as Assistant Professor Military Science (S-3) at North Carolina A&T. I retired in Â99 just 8-months after making major.
Post Army:
Well, I havenÂt really done a great deal since my retirement. I have worked as a ship captain for a few companies. I started my own company and do contract work for NOAA and the Navy. Mostly I take care, ride herd over the kids.
