Kevin's Story

I'm living in the family home, I work in the health care field, I have a wonderful son,Cody, and I've enjoyed a lot of travel in my life, still hoping to marry and have a couple more children. Life after USA I went to Atlantic Union College. Upon graduation I worked for the Jerusalem Passion Play Company in Israel. Sadly due to the drop in toursim during the Lebanon war the company went out of business. Next I went to Andrews University for a MA. While at Andrews I got to return to Israel to study Biblical Geography with Archeologiest Dr. Jim Fleming, as well as visit my friends (3 of my favorite former girlfriends live there, although the relationship ended due to distance it is good to enjoy their friendships, and visit when I'm over there). Eventually to Loma Linda University for nursing. After Andrews, I enlisted in the US Army as a Chaplain Assistant then re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserves as a Psychiatric Technician. My Air Force training lead to a job as a Psychiatric Technician in Loma Linda. Since I was working in the nursing field went back to school for an RN. Currently I am working as a Mental Health Nurse and Air Force Officer with the aeromedical evacuation system. For three years I was an active flying nurse, and currently work in aeromedical staging (sort of an airport-hospital for patients.) The Air Force frequently send me to Asia, mainly Japan, also frequently to Thailand. I was activated to Desert Shield / Desert Storm, and to Germany to meet the wounded flying in from the battlefields of Iraq. I have to admit the Germany mission was an emotional r...Expand for more
ollercoaster with nights of work being a part of the war and seeing the ugliness of war, and then on days off had an exotic European vacation only to return to the war. I spent 7 years as a medical nurse but when I returned to NY I worked as a psych nurse at Fox Hospital in Oneonta. It was acute care, so a lot of patient teaching and group therapy. I loved how it mixed the nursing with my education background. Sadly they closed the psych unit last year. Now I'm working at the state hospital in Binghamton, and sadly it does not have all the teaching that I use to do, but I'm hoping to find something in the Office of Mental Health system. I've started the training to become a certified Choice Theory / Reality Therapy counselor, a school of Psychology started by Dr. William Glasser which dovetails nicely with my education from AUC. I learned about it a few years ago at the tri-services combat stress conference in Camp Pendelton CA. I hope to eventually go back to school and get a Ph.D in Psychology. But I have to admit nursing school at Loma Linda was way too expensive for me. I sometimes do some lay preaching often using slides I took and bought in Israel and talk about Biblical geography, I'm hoping to start some on the reformation and church history using photos from Germany. I'd like to exand to making presentations incorporating Biblical study, physical and mental health and church history. Last year Cody, my son, decided to stay beyond the summer and it was a wonderful year having him here and traveling around the North East on my days off. Now he's back home with his mom.
