Update August, 2009 Received orders for recall back to active duty. Heading to the heart of the fight. I will be mobilizing in early Sept 09, will spend 2 months in training and will then spend a year in Iraq. Been an Naval Officer for 23 years, and am now and O-6...not exactly what I expected to be doing at 49. Not sure what I think of going into a very harsh combat zone, but I'll make the best of it, be the best leader I can, bring home all my people alive, try to keep my own head down, and come home in one piece. Feel free to think good thoughts for me and all the amazing folks that go into harms way for love of God and country. Thank a service member next time you see one. Life: As far as my past, I left CA right after graduation. I did my undergrad at Ohio State (84) and masters work in real estate finance at Johns Hopkins in DC (99). Had a great time in Columbus, but was a bit of a novelty to the good corn fed folks of Ohio. Why would a blond haired blue eyed Cali kid want to go the OSU, when schools in Cali were "free". The myth was live and strong back them. But my California roots made for some really amazing times in Ohio, plus it served to get me along way from home, at a time when I needed a lot of space.
