Kevin's Story
Life
After graduation I worked at a number of awful jobs before going off to college in Warrensburg in '82. Then off to be a Deputy Sheriff in Harrisonville ('85), then off to the Navy ('86), then back to college with a Bachelor's degree ('92), then finally graduating from college ('95 -- yeah I managed to squeeze four years of college into 13 years!).
Then human resources jobs with Jackson County ('95), Kansas City ('97) and Blue Springs ('99). Graduated from UMKC with a Master's ('99), got a safety/risk management job with Jackson County ('03) and went into the Navy Reserve ('03) as an E-5.
I was lucky enough to get commissioned in the Navy Reserve ('04), and took my current job as a risk manager with Midwest Public Risk in Kansas City/Independence ('05). I finished my Navy commitment in 2015, and my last call-up to Active Duty was '08-'09 with the Defense Intelligence Agency, Joint Reserve Intelligence Center, Ft. Leavenworth, where I served as the Operations Officer - great independent duty, and great fun for a Navy Lieutenant to play on an Army installation. Really though, All services and many DoD and other civilian services were represented at the JRIC, and it was a tremendous honor to work with some man...Expand for more
y great people.
In the summer of 2007 I started my own business, Great Plains Risk Management LLC. I do consulting in three practice areas: driver training, worker safety, and employment practices. So far it's a part-time venture as I build a clientele and get some good experience. I will SELL you this company and all my clientele for $1M cash ... hahaha!
I left my full-time risk management gig in 2014 to start-up a new company - DrinKitz LLC (drinkitz dot com) with a good friend, and relocated to Pensacola, FL, where we make great-tasting powdered cocktail drink mixes, and though I'm not at it full-time anymore, I am working with 3 other terrific entrepreneurs and business-minded people to build the business. I also work as a business development consultant with Zenloc (zenloc dot com), developers and makers of fantastic portable alarms.
Late in 2015 I resigned my Navy commission and am focused full-time on the DrinKitz and Zenloc business ventures - check them out, and if you're an investor or know of one, both companies may be interested in chatting. Also, both companies are always looking for interested, mature, commissioned sales people - just let me know!
