Kian's Story
Life
Well let's see - where do I begin? After high school, I went to UC Berkeley and graduated in Sociology in 91. I worked in Oakland as a College/Missions intern and then in Chicago for a non-profit organization called "Cycle" in Cabrini Green. If I have a claim to fame - the movie "Hoop Dreams" was filmed there and one kid was in our program. That was an amazing experience!!!!
Then I migrated to Santa Barbara for fun in the sun and to regroup as a flowershop/catering/coffeeshop girl. I delivered flowers to John Travolta's and Francis Ford Coppolla's (if I remember correctly). I met many wonderful and delightful people there and it could have been the latte I made for Gavin Rossdale (Gwen Stefani's now husband) that started the love sparks during their tour together. hee h...Expand for more
ee hee. Name dropping is such fun.
I moved back to Oakland for another "real" job at non-profit and then decided I loved teaching kids and did that until I got married and moved to Santa Clara. I am so thankful I waited for the right person to come along. I thought that it couldn't be possible - but it is. He is my soul mate.
While my husband finished up law school, bringing home the bacon wasn't enough on a teacher's salary (sad - isn't it? - teachers should make so much more!) so , I got into Human Resources at a start up in San Jose.
We bought our house in San Mateo, Ca. We have 2 wonderful and beautiful kids - girl and boy. Now, I stay at home with the kids. Most days I love it. Some days I wonder what in the world am I doing. But all in all, I am thankful.
