Kim's Story

Updated July, 2011 I'm visiting family & friends in Alaska again. This time for a month & loving every minute. Jon continues to keep me on my toes with his medical issues. Fortunately he's alright at the moment. We celebrated our 25th anniversary this month. Woo Hoo!! Life is good. I hope life is good for you & your loved ones. Each moment is precious. Be well my friend. Kim Updated May, 2010 It's been a bumpy ride. A week after we closed on our home in AZ my husband ended up in the hospital first for 3 weeks, then he was home 6 days & bk in the hospital for another 5 weeks. It was grueling to say the least. He had multiple bloodclots in his lungs & arm. He had fluid in his lungs, which put strain on his heart. He had several infections in his lungs &!around his lungs which took forever to identify. Then to top it off his kidneys were also in distress. He was finally released, just before Christmas & he's been trying to recover ever since. His kidneys & lungs are, let's say fragile. He was recently referred to the kidney transplant program, which is why we moved back down to AZ in the first place. I passed my real estate test in Feb & have been working since then. I enjoy it, but I am praying for the financial situation in this country to bottom out & make a turn for the better soon. One of the freedoms I get as a realtor is that I set my own schedule, so I can be with Jon for his doctor appts. & take off when I want. As I write this I'm babysitting my 2 grandchildren in Alaska & visiting for 2 weeks. My sister Lynette & I had an awesome 3 week trip down the west coast last summer on my way to AZ. I'm thinking about starting a family blog, if I do I'll post info here. Anyway I'm bk living in the lower 48 & life is calmer at the moment. Have a safe Memorial day wkend. I wish you well my friend. Kim Chase-Brewis Updated Sept 23, 09 WooHoo! We sold & closed our home in Alaska last week. Hubs will be here in Arizona on Sun, we have our walk through & close on our home here in AZ on Mon morning. Then it's champagne time. It's been a long year & a half process but well worth the wait for us in AZ as we got a great deal. I am studying to take my real estate test again. I'm excited to be going back to work again soon. Anyway, I just wanted to update you on recent blessings for us. I hope all is well in your world too. I won't & haven't had easy access to a computer since I left Alaska in June, so if you've messaged me during that time know that I'm not ignoring you. Things have just been hectic & crazy. I'll soon be sharing pics of the desert. Ciao for now my friends. Blessings upon one & all. Kim Updated June 09, a few changes. We haven't sold our house in Alaska yet but I am heading for Tucson to look for work. I...Expand for more
am tired of being in limbo & tired of sitting waiting for something to happen so I am making it happen. My sis Lynette is flying up to drive down the west coast with me. I am looking forward to the 17 day roadtrip. I'll share a few of my favorite pictures when I get settled in AZ. My husbands kidneys are fairly stable at the moment with a slight decrease in function since last year, we are very thankful about that. (Updated March 09, just a few changes) I attended the 35th class reunion in Aug 07. I had a blast but suffered from a killer headache/hangover the next morning. I can't wait for the next reunion, I'll be there with bells on. There has been a major change since the 07 reunion; my husband is having problems with his kidneys now. Our home is up for sale & we'll move back to Tucson after it sells, to be closer to major medical. In the depressed housing market who knows how long it will take to sell. If you are the praying type, please add us to your prayer list for our home to sell quickly & easily & to be able to find something as nice in Tucson. Thank you, I appreciate as much positive energy sent our way as possible. Prior to the reunion; We returned home to Alaska in Sept 2003, after living in Tucson, Arizona for 3 years where my husband had a heart transplant in 2002. It's wonderful to have the hope of a future together & to be home in Alaska once again. Our grown children are Sarah 33, Jennifer 31 & Jonas 27. We are blessed as they are all doing terrific. Sarah & her husband have blessed us with two grandchildren, Sidney is 5 & Samuel is 3. Jennifer & her husband blessed us with our first grandson, Jack, who turns 4 in August & Ashley our 4th grandchild arrived in June 08! I did social work (child protection & foster parent licensing & training) for the state of Alaska for almost 10 yrs. Then I ran a B&B in our home for 3 yrs prior to moving to AZ, where I sold real estate for 3 yrs. After returning to Alaska I was the Assistant Vice President & Branch Manager of a local bank for a year & a half, my primary job was loan officer; doing residential, commercial, consumer & construction loans. I enjoyed the challenge but was long overdue for a mental health break so I quit working in 2005 to help my husband build our new home. We moved into it in Jan. 2006. I enjoy family & friends, traveling, hiking, writing, reading, photography & music. I plan to be a published author some day. I've lived north to south, east to west & in America's heartland. I made my best move ever to Alaska in 85 where my heart & home are, for the time being anyway. Drop me a note if you have time & tell me what you've been up to. Life is short, live it to the fullest & don't forget to tell your loved ones they are loved & special to you.
