Kim's Story
Life just keeps getting better! After graduating from Crescent, tried Biological Sciences at NAIT (and somehow became Miss NAIT 1973), but found true happiness at the U of C, receiving a B.ED. with a major in Secondary Social Sudies (and a minor in dance ed.). My favorite classes were in social psychology, art and medieval history.
I've married and divorced, have two beautiful kids and enjoy my varied jobs. I'm a part-time teacher, Realtor, and a distributor for Ziga International's Moringa Health products. I was a child care worker for street kids and emotionally and behavioural challenged children many years, then an event planner for corporate volunteering at the same children's agency. Also ran a program for early intervention of bullying in schools through the agency. I went back to university to study music education and enjoyed conducting school bands as well as playing in adult concert bands. As a parent volunteer I got involved with music theatre too!
I love to travel, and attended summer school in Mexico and Central America, lived in Vienna Austria, explored most of Europe, befriended bedouins in the Middle East, and took my children on global adventures. I did tour guiding when the opportunities came up - from personal tours of Southern Alberta to jeep adventure tours in Jordan! I did slow down to going on cruises with the kids and relaxing at my timeshare at Cabos San Lucas. At home I’ve always liked to garden and would like to find time to do more painting and writing.
Fitness and wellness is still a passion and I taught belly dance for over 30 years. I’ve loved participating in Zumba classes and...Expand for more
work outs at Curves and at a local gym. Living in the Foothills has given me the opportunity to hike in some beautiful country both as a scout leader for many years and now with a Foothills hiking club.
I'm into super nutrition with Zija International and organics as much as possible (although I can always be talked into going for pizza and Chinese buffet!) and am not quite vegetarian - just don't eat meat.
I still have the same interests that I did in high school: outdoors, nature, painting and art, organizing events, working with kids, travel, theatre and dance. Funny how things get imprinted as a teen ... I imagine that I'll be doing more of the same when (if) I ever retire!
Oh, and don't let me forget to mention - I'm still an avid Stampeder football fan!!!
2015 attended Crescent Heights 100 year celebration and it was awesome revisiting with my old friends from high school. After that I went down to Albuquerque New Mexico to a Wise Woman's Retreat to dance, celebrate and relect on life. Loved the desert!
2016 visited Cuba in January with my son and enjoyed a variety of ecotourism adventure experiences.
I had the opportunity to attend a Zija International Women's Retreat in Las Vegas to focus on Moringa Oleifera's super nutrition and to enjoy the company of other women network marketers.
Later, I returned to Albuquerque for a huge Belly Dance Conference and shows by some of the first famous performers from the '70's and '80's - was so excited to be a part of this historical event!
Whew, after all of this traveling, now substitute teaching, volunteering, and doing real estate, I'm going to need a vacation!
