College
I attended night classes for xray certification with 8 other girls from my area. I worked full time during the day. Had 3 small children at home and a hubby and the usual colony of cats and dogs. The classes were 2 or 3 nights a week I cant remember, for 6-8 weeks. Then had to keep study group going til it was time to take the State Boards. 5 of us girls went on the same day for boards to Portland. The test was 3 hours. It was stressful and exciting. d but it took weeks to know that. So we sweated it out for awhile. It was worth it though.
Workplace
I have been working in the dental field for the last 30 years. I started out in orthodontics and moved into oral surgery, where I stayed for 5 years. Then I went to night school for xray and took state boards in 1988. From there I moved into general dentistry. Where I am currently working for the same dentist. I went back to school and became expanded functions certified, this gave me more hands on with the patients.I love all of my patients and am very close with many of them they are family. I love both Dr Leo and Dr Mark Keilman they are wonderful people to work with and we have a lot of fun. The staff is family and we are all very close.I enjoy what I do and am very blessed. I love the challenges of making a patient comfortable. Most people don't like coming to the dentist but for our patients its a time to visit and get caught up on whats going on in all of our lives and us theirs. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else or doing anything else. Its very rewarding for me and I love every day I get to be a part of it.
