Kim's Story

Life It feels very strange to write my bio. I am neither famous nor monied, and life after high school has proceeded pretty much as planned, with the usual peaks and valleys that we have all faced as part of this grand adventure we call life. Went off to university became a School Psychologist, found an in-the-meantime position as a Counselor, and realized it was my niche. I did my internship with F.U.H.S.D. , including Troy. One of my classmates during graduate school was Mrs Kelleher, my Counselor at Troy. It seemed so strange to me, especially when she urged me to call her "Jean". Funny, I just couldn't do it. Old habits die hard. She thought it was very funny. My time with 'Papa' Young in Madrigals at Troy was a huge influence in my life. I continued to sing during the college years and for a few years after that in Fullerton. I sang sporadically with the William Hall Master Chorale (now defunct) as an on call vocalist, it's all I have time for anymore, you know how 'real life' kind of gets in the way. We were fortunate to have sung at the Hollywood Bowl for two summers as featured artists,a tour of Italy in 2001 that included singing for the Pope...Expand for more
in Vatican City and other concerts in Rome, Venice and Florence. In 2002 we were invited to China by the government's cultural affairs personnel and toured Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing. We capped off the trip with a formal dinner in the Hall of the People, right across the street from Tiannemen Square. It was amazing to be standing there! That was a thrill I will never forget. Boy, do I feel blessed for these opportunities!! Most recently I have been exercising my artsy-fartsy side, experimenting in a variety of media and taking whatever classes that I fancy. I sometimes donate my mixed media works to a gallery in Santa Ana for their charity auctions. The rest are in my office or stashed unceremoniously in my studio. Hmm, what else? I married my best friend. We share a passion for travel, which we do every chance we get and everywhere we can. We are lucky to have the opportunity and are thankful for it. In the future I hope to win the lottery, see the world and write the great American novel. You know, the usual stuff. I also hope to rekindle a few friendships that somehow withered on the vine after graduation from Troy. This is a great place to begin.
