Kim's Story
Life
I'll be married 27 years in May. I have 3 kids - two boys, 25 and 20, and a girl that is 22 and in her junior year at Missouri Western - criminal justice. My 20 year old is at William Jewell, wanting to go into medicine. I am the transportation director for a school bus contractor. We spend a lot of time attending our kids sporting events, mountain bike riding and working on our place. We built a house on 30 acres in Northwest Missouri. I love it for the peace and quiet! My youngest son plays soccer and football at William Jewell, (kicking for the FB team). I never did finish my college education and have always regretted it. Hopefully, my kids will do differently.
School
After high school, I went to NWMSU to study art and art history. The school wasn'...Expand for more
t a good fit for me, so after a semester, I came back home and spent three semesters at UMKC studying art. The teacher in high school who most inspired me was Mrs. Sharon Hunter, my art teacher. She raised her kids, then went back to school, got her degree, taught, had a studio, did it all - just not all right away. I admired her so much. One of my favorite memories was Mr. Stathos' Russian history class. We only had about 15 students in that class and he was a soap opera junkie. We would work hard for 4 of the days, then watch his soap once in a while. He was so much fun and made that class so interesting. I didn't finish college, wish I had. I met Mark, who would eventually become my husband, and here I am 27 years later. No regrets, life has been good.
