Kim Kohler's Story
Born in Deckerville, MI. Raised on a farm. My parents were "snow birds" and made me go to FL in the winter from the years of 5th grade thru by junior yr in high school. I went to Deckerville to school from Sept. to Nov. every year. Then in Sarasota from Nov. to April and then back to Deckerville form April to June. I always hated leaving Dville in he fall. Hated coming to FL to school where there were several 100 kids in my grade. Deckervile was safe and small with a class of about 100. Talked Mom and Dad into letting me stay in Mich. for my senior year and had a really good time living with other families while they came to FL for the winter. After graduation in 1977 I worked in a factory for awhile then went to college in Port Huron, MI for a year. Mom and Dad sold the farm in 1980 so I followed them back to FL. Met my...Expand for more
husband, Robert "Beep" Schwartzkopf in 1982 and we were married in 1983. Ended up in the insurance field purely by accident and I am still in insurance. Had our son Robert on 2-5-86 and our daughter Sara on 6-20-91. Beep died of a brain aneurysm on 9-16-99. It was over in a matter of seconds. What a shock. Sara was 8 and Robert was 13. That was almost 10 years ago. Life has been challenging. Robert is now in the Air Force and Sara graduated from Sarasota High this yr. She plans to be an RN. She'll make an awesome nurse. Robert isn't sure what he will do when he gets out of the Air force. I'm a commercial account manager for a local insurance agency. Glad to have a good job with times a tough as they are right now. Busy with work, church, kids and my 83 yr old Mom lives with me. Life is crazy busy and going too fast!
