Kim's Story

At the present time I am, Married, living on the west coast in Punta Gorda. I have a son and three daughters ranging in age from, 31-22. two of them have blessed me with 3 grandsons-with another due this fall. I have spent most of my adult life working in the interior decorating business. Those of you who knew me might remember my Mom had a decorating business in the shopping center directly in front of Perry Jr. High. After classes at Perry I would go over to the shop and help out in the sewing room. I went to college as an art major, in Gainesville, was married and had 3 children by the time I was 25, divorced and remarried two years later, and along came my youngest daughter. In the 80's I opened a design business business of my own on Marco Island, my husband opened a Yacht Brokers Business and together we bought the Historical Captain Bill Collier Home. We ran our businesses out of it, while living there with four children!! He was away on Boats often for months at a time and the marriage didn't hold up. we sold the home and divorced. Wanting to see other places, I took the children and my talents , and moved to St. Augustine, where I got involved in Costume design. I've lived in other parts of the country through out the 90's and into this decade. I moved back to South West Florida, in 2005. Met my present husband a Nov of 06' and married November of 07'. currently,I'm on the Board of directors in my community, I Direct a Writers group, still paint, and s...Expand for more
ew whatever clients need me to costumes, clothes, complete interior decorating and Boat upholstery. Much of my day is spent creating a wonderful surroundings here at our home. I'm in the gardens anywhere for 2-8 hours of every day. I am considering opening a Backyard Plant Nursery Business this coming up fall. I'll have to see how I get through the rainy season, and the dry summer, before I jump in and call it a good business decision. I am honored to have four childern who are each others best friends. On any given holiday or local event they all contact each other and make plans to meetup. they all have very diffrent personalities and interest, and friends of their own, yet the are all together as often as work schedules allow. I'm very happy to be back in town with them. My Mother moved to Ft. Myers in the 70's and my children all live in Cape Coral. We are a very close family. The grandsons's call me Nana, and I call my garden "Nana's Garden". I am planning a Family Re-union for Mothers Day, with both my husbands Mom and my Mom as the Honored guests, and my first Mother-inlaw I now call "My Aunt"!!. The family re-union was what got me thinking about getting back in touch with Classmates back in Miramar. So I hope I will see many of you soon. Anything more there is to tell, I'll look forward to E-mails from you!! Maybe a handfull of us could put together a Re-union....all it takes is someone to say, "I'll Help". Lets see what we can do! Bye for now, Kimmie
