Kim's Story
I am happily married as of this last May to a wonderful man and have 4 beautiful children. I met Aaron four years ago and he fell in love with not only me, but my three kids from a previous marriage as well. Together we had a baby girl Hannah who will turn two this July. Life has definitely been a journey! My high school years were really tough to say the least, I struggled with so many areas from my grades to an unstable living environment, I lived with friends (Yvette Atkins and Michele Alaniz), my father died, my mother went to jail for drugs and eventually I got my GED because high school was the least of my concerns. Surviving those years was by far the one of the hardest things I have ever done. My life has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs since then. I married when I was 21 to escape the dysfunction of my family only to find that you can never outrun your problems. I was married almost 10 years when we finally divorced. I was a single mom for over three years when I met Aaron. My life has been a mixture of challenges of blessings, none of which I would trade for anything.
So who I am today.... I am an accountant who works primarily with land developers on publicly financed districts. Its hard to explain so I'll eave it at that! :-) I decided about a year and a half ago that since the housing market was in the dumps I would try another profession, one that I actually liked! Aaron bought me a Canon Rebel XT as a gift and from that moment...Expand for more
on I was hooked. I have been pursuing photography ever since! I eventually traded up my Canon XT for two Canon's, a 20D and a 30D. Of course now I want the 5D but this is an expensive hobby so I better make more money before I go purchase what I REALLY want! HA HA! I am a family, maternity, children and wedding photographer. I absolutely love this job! It's a front row seat to some of the most momentous times in a person's life. I feel like a guest who gets to witness these miracles over and over. It really is awesome...
I stay home with the four kids while my husband Aaron works in Resource Management at Verizon Wireless... We live in the suberbs of Sacramento, we have a nice house that is finally big enough for all of us (my mother keeps threatning to move in, HA HA) We have a perfect size family, two cars, the house...I am living the dream I thought not possible way back when I attended McLane. It's by no means an extravagant lifestyle but if you knew where I came from, anything was better than where I came from!
Our hobbies are mountain biking, hiking and running. Aaron and I want to do a few races this year. We took two years off to have Hannah and we are looking forward to doing a few duathlons (running anf mountain biking)...
Other than that we live a pretty simple yet rewarding life... I have worked very hard to put the past behind me and look forward to the future. It seems to get better and better, much more than I had ever imagined!
