Kim's Story
Life
My life has been very fullfilling the last 30 years since graduating from Kennedy. I've been married to a wonderful man for the last 25 years and have a beautiful daughter and son. They are the joy of my life. My husband and I are very active in church and ministry.
I also speak whenever possible about the topic of alcohol abuse. I've had many opportunities to go into different churches, treatment centers and other locations.
I feel alcohol and drug abuse has destroyed so many lives, marriages and futures. My mother died at the age of 29 of alcoholism. I have had friends and family who's lives have been completely destroyed because of alcoholism. It is my desire to bring a message of hope and healing to those affected by this disease.
Nothing is more rewarding to me in life than to know that something I've said has brought change to a person's life. I believe that the Lord had a purpous for each of our lives.
Some of the exciting events that have happened in the last 30 years have been ...
Getting married - 1986
birth of my daughter - 1989
birth of my son - 1992
Buying our first home
My daughter has been active in the American Coed pageant system for a number of years and had the priviledge of being crowned Miss Minnesota Sweetheart in 1999. That year we also went to the National level where she was 7th runner up overall and the winner of the national speech and acting compititions.
She was also crowned Miss Minnesota Pre-Teen in 2002.
My daughter graduated from high school in 2007
My son graduated in 2010.
A couple of painful spots have been losing my mother in law to cancer in 2003 and my sister in law this past March.
The other member's of our family include our 3 cats. Angel, Tigger and Harry.
What I'm most proud of - Definatly my family! My husband is not only handsome but a great father and...Expand for more
hard worker.
My daughter is beautiful. She loves being a cheerleader for hockey, dance, choir and anything Disney!
My son is a handsome redhead. No one can make me laugh more than he can! He's also the musician in the family. He's been playing piano for 9 years and also enjoys playing any percussion instrument. He enjoys golf and playing football with his friends.
What I like to do in my spare time is scrapbooking, reading, baking, crafts, going to movies and spending time with my family. When I get the chance I enjoy being involved with our community theatre.
What I like to do the most is travel! Whether it's traveling all the way to California or just a day trip right here in Minnesota I love to explore places of interest. I'm 100% scandinavian and it is my dream to one day travel to Norway.
My plan for the future...
Looking forward to my grandkids.
Growing old with my husband.
More opportunities to sing and speak.
More travel.
Growing closer in my relationship with Christ.
The most important thing in my life is having Jesus at the center of my life. I gave my life to Christ in 1980 and have not been the same since. I have found that when you put the Lord 1st in every area of your life then you will be blessed beyond measure! Don't get me wrong, I've had pain and heartache through the years but the difference is that I have a peace beyond understanding. When hard times come I put my trust in the Lord and I have not been let down yet. Some people may think this is a simple minded way of thinking and maybe it is. Who said life has to get so complicated anyway. I could tell story after story of the times the Lord has shown His mercy and grace to me and my family. Yes, I do believe in a very real God and I believe He sent His son to die for each of us.
I cannot imagine my life without Him in it.
