Kimberly's Story
I joined the US Navy after graduation. After six years, with a Bachelor's degree under my belt, I received an honorable discharge as a First Class Petty Officer. I was stationed in Newfoundland (Canada), San Francisco and San Diego. I took a detour to the Phillipines on a military hop to visit my boyfriend who was stationed there briefly onboard a submarine.
After the Navy, I went to work for General Dynamics in San Diego for five years, transferring to Tucson when Hughes bought the GD missile business. I have been in Tucson ever since(1993) and I love it! The Sonoran desert is a green and wet oasis compared to the brown, windy Mojave desert we grew up in.
I got married in 1993, had three perfect children (now 15, 13, 10), was a stay-at-home mom for nine years, got divorced (2002) and returned to work at Hughes which by that time had become Raytheon Missile Systems.
I have been back at work with Raytheon since 2003 and am an International Contracts Manager. General Dynamics funded my MBA (with emphasis in International Business) which enabled my advancement in the company. I have traveled on business to Germany, England, Sweden and Israel and have negotiated contracts with the Israel Ministry of Defense (my toughest customer)!

f the most memorable times of my life was the month I spent traveling in Europe at the age of 26, before getting married. I went alone but met up with a singles group and had the time of my life. I traveled to 10 countries in a month's time, by bus and by rail. My favorite cities: Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam, Venice, Budepest, Heidelburg and Salzburg.
Watching my children grow and now attend high school and middle school, reminds me of what it was like to be their age. I think fondly of my middle and high school friends, namely Paula Sterk, Carolyn Baldwin (she transferred to Quartz Hill), Linda Geoetzelman, Rolf Storlie and Bill Densing (and many more that I enjoyed seeing at the 20th reunion). I often wonder if I got my love of fast cars from Rolf! For my 40th, I treated myself to a Honda S2000, a convertible and sporty little race car. (I insisted the children walk to school...just kidding....the soccer mom van accomodates the kids.)
My current interests include all the joys of being a parent, working out at the gym, hiking, reading, cooking, entertaining, good wine and interesting conversation, and keeping up with politics (my favorite magazine is "The Economist").
Take care, everyone, and thanks for reading my story. Kimberly
