Kimbal's Story
Well, it's the start of 2008 and things are pretty much the same for me from when I last wrote in this space back in 2006. I'm still living in Wickliffe, still working for WOIO/WUAB ("19 Action News") as the Director of News Operations and still active with Boy Scouts (Assistant Scoutmaster and a trustee member for a couple BSA foundations), BGSU's Journalism Alumni Board and raising my two awesome kids, Noah (11) and Olivia "Kitten" (6). If it wasn't for my kids, I think I'd go crazy.
My job is really interesting, though it doesn't compare to all the years I spent on the street as a cameraman. I'm indoors a fair amount, except when I get to fly in the helicopter; I really enjoy the break from working on computers and pushing paperwork. I am still the postgame coordinator for the NFL in Cleveland, so I feed NFL Films and NFL Network with game day interviews for all the Browns' home games. hey had a good team this year and they seem to be setting themselves up for more good football.
As the years go by I get a little sad because I'm watching my children grow, realizing my time to enjoy them as kids is very short and very limited. Both Olivia and Noah have great senses of humor and we spend a lot of time together playing jokes on each other, playing kid games, like calling out, "Safety!" when someone cuts one. You know-all that silly stuff we did when we were kids. What's even sadder is that I figured that I'll be about 58 when "Kitten" graduates from high school...so many of you got an early jump and are finally enjoying life and sometimes I'm envious of that. My kids will be changing my diapers in the nursing home before long!
I haven't run in to anyone from our class in a long time, and I am still bummed I had to miss our 25th reunion a few years back. The best e-mail to write to me is kfatica(at)sbcglobal.net. I would really enjoy hearing from people and hope everyone is doing great.
