Kimberly's Story

After graduation I continued my education at SSC. I realized that was not for me so I changed carrer paths. I decided I would like to become a hair stylist so I enrolled in beauty school. No I did not drop out :-) as a matter of fact I did really well and graduated top in my class. I worked in a few salons in Lansing and Munster but found it really hard working for so little money. So I thought it is time for a change.... So off to Chicago I went, looking for something better. I found my first job working for a Commodity's Firm called Barnes and Co. I started out as a receptionist and quickly knew that was not the job for me. I needed something more challenging. Within 3 months I was given a new job working in the Telecommunications Dept. My job included taking care of the phone system both in the office and also on the CBOT/CME trading floors. I was required to order all of the traders voice and data circuits and to install all market data services too. I was responsible for reviewing questionable trades via the voice loggers called Dictaphone machines. And paying all of the invoices. I have changed employers over the years - the job has always remained pretty much the same - In 1994 I started dating the man I would eventually marry. I knew him for 5 years before our first date. Then one day I decided to take him up on his offer. Actually I had tickets to a CUBS game and asked him if he would like to go. His initial response was he was busy - however he called me back 5 minutes later telling me yes - he would love to go. I knew I was special because he is a SOX fan and I know how hard it was for him to go to Wrigley Field that day :-) Fast forward two years - September 21, 1996 I married Wally Ryan. It's funny how things work out because 1...Expand for more
2 years later I still love him as much - if not more than I did on our wedding day. We have been blessed with a daughter - Kailey Marie and a son Connor Joseph. We built a home in St. John, IN and moved in on Valentines Day 2003. I am currently working for Deutsche Boerse Systems in Chicago. DBS provides the network for the German Stock Exchange. It is a really challenging job that keeps me on my toes. I travel to Germay once a year to keep in contact with my German co-workers over there. It is really hard to balance the job and my family. But if I had to choose one, the family comes first. My husband and my children mean everything to me. We are a very busy family between school, softball, baseball and football.. We like to travel. We have been on several family vacations we have been to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, St. Kitts, Mackinaw Island, Disney World to name a few. We have spent a lot of time in South Haven, MI and at Bass Lake. We also like camping and most importantly we enjoy going to Church together. In 2004 we were invited to visit a church with some friends of ours. And a year later we joined Faith Church in Dyer. We love it! Through the church we have made some of our closest friends we have ever had. If anyone still lives in the surrounding area I would like to ivite you to check it out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. You may even get the feeling I did - that first Sunday I went. God was telling me this is HOME. I can't believe how quickly time flies by. It doesn't seem like it's been 26 years since that warm sunny day, sitting on the TFS football field, back in 1982 they called my name and gave me my diploma!!! WOW So life continues and I look forward to see what the future holds for me and my family.....
