Kimberly's Story
Life
After High School, I attended Hope College in Holland, MI. I graduated in 1982 with a degree in English/Communications. I did an internship at McCall's magazine in New York City.
I've held a variety of jobs in the field of communications, and have enjoyed most of them. After my father died in 1993, I took a year off work to help my mom out and then went to Mobile AL to attend graduate school. I received my Master's Degree in 1997 -- and moved to the Washington DC area.
I worked for six years for the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council in Washington DC. I've had the opportunity to represent my industry as a delegate to the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods in Geneva Switzerland. I was also appointed to participate in two industry groups on the President's Committee on Y2K Preparedness in 1999. It was quite exciting.
In April 2004, I accepted a position with the Air Line Pilots Association in Herndon VA and continue working there today as a senior communications specialist supporting three pilot groups.

duated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg VA in 2006, and earned his Master's Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from Missouri State University. He currently works for the government supporting the military. He is my greatest joy. He's actively involved in sky diving and participated in the Collegiate Skydiving National Championship in December 2003. He finished third in free fly, fourth in two-way relative work and sixth in sport accuracy. He's also a certified skydiving coach. He enjoys rock climbing, white water rafting, scuba diving, hiking and camping (and I have been lucky to share all these activities with him). He's also an entrepreneur and provides health and safety training through his company American Lifesaving and Aquatics. Gee, can you tell I'm very proud of my son! He married the love of his life in 2016 and I can’t wait to be a GiGi!
I've been very fortunate to have had the ability and resources to travel the globe, and will continue to do so as long as I can.
Anyone who wants to visit our nation's capital is welcome to visit! I’ve got plenty of room!
