Kirk's Story
My story - let's see. Married with two wonderful kids (pictured above) who (like all parents...) we are very proud of. My son, Ian, is in automotive technical school at UTI in Arizona. My daughter is graduating college May 9th from University of Northern Colorado.
I worked 23 years in the corporate world doing primarily commercial real estate development and management; the last 6 serving as President/CEO of a multi-industry/multi-company division of a public company. Got bit by the entrepreneurial bug and started my own company in 2005 and have been enjoying it immensely! My wife and I live in Redmond, WA. My work is centered in the Pacific NW but occasionally takes me to different locations.
I take pleasure in travel, bicycling (road), photography, and combining all of the above whenever possible. We traveled all over the US with our kids when they were growing up...lots of family vacations. As our kids got older, we promised foreign trips to both our kids upon high school graduation; so my wife and daughter traveled to Paris, France for several weeks in honor of my daughter's high-school graduation and to give them some mother-daughter time. came, he and I traveled to Japan for 3 weeks. Both locations were chosen each by our kids - it was their trip. We traveled as a family to Colorado to take my daughter to college four years ago. When my son went to Arizona for automotive technical school, I had the great joy of another father-son trip in driving him down the coast highway and then over to Phoenix, AZ to get him set up for life in Arizona. That was in January 2009. I've taken several trips with my daughter back and forth from Colorado & Washington over the past 4 years which were a blast! My wife and I both feel really lucky to have great kids and to have enjoyed all the great times we've had with them over the years! They're great people! My daughter's plans after graduation include a respite working at a summer camp in Gig Harbor before launching into the work world. My son will be finishing automotive tech school (UTI) in the Fall/Winter 2010. From there he will most likely have an employment contract with a manufacturer (he's targeting Audi) for 3 years after which he would like to move to Japan.
Those are the highlights...all the stuff in between is a blur - I can't believe this much time has passed !!
