I stopped using the name "Kitt" in college, where "Shelagh" graduated with an Education degree with a double major in English and Journalism from the UofA. Unfortunately I discovered much too late that I didn't like teaching, probably because I had students within two years of my own age. (That "authority figure" business seemed ridiculous.) In 1975 I met "Mr. Right"--finally!--and we've been married (as of 2013) for 37 years, living in Tucson, Austin, Boston, and upstate New York. I worked numerous office-type jobs but never had an actual career until I decided to stay home to raise our kids, a daughter with a shiny new PhD and--gasp!--a job and her trans sister, an engineer designing for space exploration through MIT Lincoln Labs. I enjoy them enormously as adults and wish they lived nearer. Although we didn't spend and travel like some dual-career couples, it was the right decision for me. My degree wasn't entirely wasted.
