Klaus's Story

Well life has been very busy, for probably most of us! You know, college, master and PhD degrees, world travels, visiting or living in and experiencing different cultures (some being total culture shocks), raising children, seeing them leave home for college with tears flowing from our eyes, their graduation(s), their marriages, grandchildren (oh no, here we go again - but at least they leave when our children go home - hopefully), some moving back home with their parents, some divorces, some new marriages and relationships, senior citizen discounts (never know unless you ask), world cruises, sitting down to read a good book, learning to just relax, skiing, rock climbing, hiking, century bike rides, oh yea - SUSHI, reminiscing of those good old high school years - color TV, man landing on the moon, the Beatles, the Ed Sullivan Show, Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans, days when you could leave your door unlocked at night with no worries about anyone breaking in, VW's with Porsche engines installed, real snowy winters, battle of the bands, learning how to dance AT the dance, our great Junior and Senior Proms, the Poconos (senior winter trip), the military draft, Vietnam, JFK's assassination, the Rolling Stones, "Make Love Not War" slogan, Woodstock, gosh - just so many good memories! So what do you remember most that has impacted your life? How many still live in NJ or have moved on? Where's Bob Render and his guitar playing? Remember the "School Walk-Out" in support of the Newark r...Expand for more
iots? Also, when we used to take the butter cubes, unwrap them and throw them onto the cafeteria ceiling (always look up before you sit down)! Oh, some even threw pencils that stuck into the ceilings. Remember when you forgot your locker combination - early senior moment? And those short gym shorts that the guys were required to wear - OMG! And of course our lovely school cheer leaders and the pre-game bond fires! Oh yea, the Willingboro Mall - a place to hang out! Rancocas Creek for us swimmers and fishermen (if you like eels)! Route 30 to Philly for a fun out on the town once you got your license! Oh yea - school trip to The Franklin Institute - almost forgot this! Is Bristol Bridge still in open? The humid summers - turn up the air conditioner! College applications to Rutgers and Princeton! And of course Atlantic City and the boardwalk! Such memories and more! You have to admit, life hopefully has been good to and for all of us! It's a matter of perspective - is the glass half full or half empty? Always remember to smile, stop and smell the roses, say hello to strangers as you walk by them, look people in the eye, reach out to the needy, lend a hand to the downtrodden and remember your childhood memories - for they made you who you are today! Hope to see you all at the reunion - I'm here in Mission Viejo, CA, so I have to plan well ahead. See my two (2) posted pictures - I'm 67 now! Klaus - member of the GREATEST graduation class of John F. Kennedy High School and proud of it!
