Knut's Story
After High School I worked for awhile and then was drafted in February 1967. After Basic Training and further training at Ft. Gordon Georgia, I came to Germany in October 1967. I wound up staying in for 20 years served as a First Sergeant twice and retired in 1987 as a Chief Warrant Officer. I started in Civil Service after retirement was I worked in a variety of different positions culminating with the Master Planner position at the U.S. Army Garrison In Schweinfurt Germany. ctober 2011. After 42 years of marriage, it left a large void which calls for continuing changes in my life.
I am currently working on the closure of US Army Garrisons Bamberg and Schweinfurt .I really didn't realize how important "MY" soldiers and the Army were to me, since it's really all about taking care of soldiers and their families. Every time I fire up the Harley, I always have to think of Auto Shop with Mr. White, when I rode a 59 Norton motorcycle to school and he caught me popping a wheelie in the Auto shop parking lot and said "Ogaard, I would have expected that from anyone else , but not from you". When it wasn't bike weather I would have my old 55 Pontiac I guess I will always be a teenage "Hot Rodder", just now a little older. All in all the three years at Mark Keppel were great and there were a lot of great folks there.
